As long as I can get my name on the field and play regularly footy that’s all that really matters to me at the moment,” Siposs said at Yarrawonga’s J.C. Lowe Oval yesterday.
“I’m still trying to find my feet and get myself in a spot where I can play regular footy.
“Whether that’s up forward, or down back, or on the wing, or in the middle doesn’t really bother me.
“I’m happy to put myself in any spot and challenge myself.
“It all depends on how Scotty wants to structure the team, really.
“I have spent most of my time in the backline over the pre-season and if something comes of that then that’s great.”

Re: Just happy to play- Siposs
The support base are getting ahead of themselves with the development of Siposs.
Whilst he is going to be a gun I tend to lean on the side that too much is expected of him too soon because of the list issues of needing to bringing in as many decent youngens as swiftly as possible

Expectation needs to be realistic
Hope SW doesn't pigeon hole him... He can be a dangerous medium fwd also... A penetrating wingman or a sweeper?

I hope he gets to play multiple roles too, he has such a nice kick and seems to have a good ability to read the play. I think it's easier to play a less pressured role at his age too.

Re: Just happy to play- Siposs
The concern for me is that he's already been identified as a very important weapon for us - and that opposition teams will know to shut him down before he's ever even had the chance to establish himself at senior level. What he needs for his development is to have a couple of solid months of senior footy where he gets plenty of the ball. Most young players get that opportunity to develop without too much pressure from the opposition, but I don't think Siposs will find himself with much space to work with. He only needs 10 or 12 touches to make a big impact on a match and the opposition are aware of this already.
Re: Just happy to play- Siposs
Don't think the club or coaching staff expectation is too much of a worry, think supporter base can have high expectations and media grab hold of it through social networks and start talking it up!
Sign of the times!
Big win if Sippos Stanley Simpkin and 1 mid can become best 22 this year IMO!

Maybe this year?
Re: Just happy to play- Siposs
Plenty of players have play well early in their careers, why shouldn't Siposs?

Re: Just happy to play- Siposs
The thing about him is that if he gets to play as a +1 at the back then he should get a reasonable amount of the footy. With that huge kick he can kick it around 60-70m to leading players/ ruckmen such as Roo, Maister, McEvoy, Hickey and Lee with ease. It's a great way to beat the press. Wen the ball spills to the ground then our quick smalls pick up the crumbs.
If the opposition try and shut Siposs out then we have Chips and Gwilt who are also excellent passers of the footy too to pass the ball through instead, complimented by the likes of Dal and Schneids through the midfield.
Our biggest difficulty will be playing against stoppage specialist teams as Lenny is ageing and the likes of Steven and Jones are not consistently efficient disposers of the ball.

The kid is only 20. Im rapt with his progress but history tells us hes still a few years off being consistent at AFL level. In 3 years hell be one heck of a player.

Agree again, considering that his tank is one of the few knocks on him, playing every single praccie match in stifling heat would've affected him more than most.spert wrote:AgreeCon Gorozidis wrote:The kid is only 20. Could be a champ like Hird or Swan with a late draft pick but needs time. He going alright though and looks to have the opposition a little worried about what he can do even at a young age.St Ick wrote:Agree again, considering that his tank is one of the few knocks on him, playing every single praccie match in stifling heat would've affected him more than most.spert wrote:AgreeCon Gorozidis wrote:The kid is only 20. I think he is a bloke that has alot of confidence and a swagger about him like most champion players do. He looks terrific when he attacks the ball or goes for the long bomb at goal. He needs to work hard and have his team mates and coaching staff to encourage him. Take it , it´s yours Aaron !
