Speaking of kids are any of our senior experienced players out there. I read that Schnieder was BOG for Sandy in a praccy.

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
Well, it seems to mean more to the Giants. Probably only one of 2-4 wins they will get all year, including pre season

I remember last practice match a few years back when Port thrashed us by 10 goals +. Anyone remember what happened over the next 19 weeks.

Why would you be even looking at this thread if it so pointless…Hurricane wrote:Its a praccy game. Absolutely no meaning in it whatsoever

It may mean little, but if we are going to have a thread discussing this match, well we have been playing very ordinary football.

Did we play more like a team just running around for fitness, and the Giants look like the world depended on it.

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
Sure its a practice match, but I don't like what I saw today...slow, terrible disposal, not much leadership from the experienced players
Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
If it means absolutely nothing, why fly up there and play..... After what I saw on the stream, I'd be surprised if Scotty didn't tear them a new arse it would be disappointing....
Steven, great work rate.... Unbelievable decision making?! How many of his field possessions are even effective?? The boy can find the footy... Is that a good thing. And why would Milney go, if he wasn't going to be fair dinkum??
Really, it was a pathetic effort.... But I remember our pre sason form meant nothing last year either, even our R1 loss was OK... Until people realised it would cost us a finals spot?!
In the pre season
We've played port, GWS, Melbourne.... Not a good side between them, and were 1/2.... Played well vs Central Districts

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
It was over 30 degrees again today, that means we played 3 weeks in a row in oppressive heat, us to take its toll eventually
Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
Not sure we saw the best 22 today...
Some tweaks before round 1 for sure.
Not ideal to play in the heat again, recovery, recovery, recovery....
Oh, and the Giants song is OK

Hopefully some good recovery facilities close by.
Older guys a bit rusty, assume there will be a hitout next week at club level?
Footy in March, becoming harder every year with the heat.

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
GWS did look keener, but we have quite a few who are playing for a spot in the 1's, so they shouldn't be too lacklustre. It did look hot, but it was hot for both sides.3rd generation saint wrote:Did we play more like a team just running around for fitness, and the Giants look like the world depended on it.

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
Roo was a lazy sook a fair bit of the time today, so I'm not taking too much out of it.
The small forwards were completely anonymous. The backline average. Mids overrun.
BUT Hickey was excellent. And no injuries.

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
for them it does - as they may struggle to win any games this year at all.3rd generation saint wrote:Did we play more like a team just running around for fitness, and the Giants look like the world depended on it.
And we may have, did we have any experienced defenders out there at all - and again, how hot was it? We have been flogged by extreme heat this past month. The first moderate weather weekend in a month and we get sent to Sydney for their heatwave. Sheesh. Hopefully they have shown their hand now and we can make them pay in round 3.
Disappointing but then again who knows what Watters is trying out.

Re: GWS v Saints Match Thread
Re:Heat - I doubt that GWS have played in quite the level of heat we have consistently over the past month. It really has not been ideal. However having said that we play up at the Gold Coast round 1, so maybe it is.dragit wrote:GWS did look keener, but we have quite a few who are playing for a spot in the 1's, so they shouldn't be too lacklustre.
