Expectations for 2013 Season
I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about how St Kilda will go this year.

I don't have expectations I have dreams.

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
Since the 2010 GF we've lost these regulars:
Baker
Gram
Dawson
Goddard
Coming in and improving since:
Hickey
Steven
Geary
Saad
Maister
Armitage
Add some solid youth, less aging stars slowing down....we should go close to winning it if we get the mongrel back.
That's my dream anyway.

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
probably 7 to 13 all depends on injuries and improvement to us and the same for the rest of the middle pack of teams. Tigers, Brissie, Essendon, North, Adelaide, Carlton etc all have claims on improvement or are ready to challenge we need them to fall the right way too.

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
I reckon we'll end up 5th to 8th with 12-15 wins.
I think we are on the improve and then we will be right in it in 2014.
Am very pleased with the way that the clubs heading and think Watters is great.
Go Saints!!

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
I'm going for higher than last year. We have addressed a few long term weaknesses - ruckmen (that's plural, and not just Blakey), more forward options than kick it to Nick (Wilkes, Lee, Sipposs etc are those third talls we have been after for a while - Charlie Gardiner anyone?), some draft picks that we seem to have got right and can/will actually play, the realisation that we were short down back last year and trying to do something about it (Stanley, Mitch Brown etc). Also, compared to previous years, it just seems like we have more depth, not just a couple of players who could come in and nobody else. If our guns can fire still and we have a good run with injuries, I believe we can challenge. Looking forward to seeing some new faces and some old faces in new roles.

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
Nup! One of those teams will move up the ladder and the Saints and or possibly another team will take the spot. Surely you understand that?plugger66 wrote:Cairnsman wrote:bottom 4

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
Why so pessimistic? Surely St Kilda won't go that much worse than last year. Even if they do go backwards, they should still be better than GWS, Gold Coast, Port Adelaide, Melbourne and the Bulldogs.Cairnsman wrote:Nup! We need to start well. If we do we could get on a roll and then anything can happen

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
The current odds for the Saints to make the top 8 are $2.75 and the odds for the bottom 8 are $1.40. So those odds might suggest 10th or below. With a good start to the season and a few big scalps along the way and minimal injuries to our guns, I reckon we will be in the top 8, maybe 6th to 8th.

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
Depends how you look at things. I don't think there is much difference between 9th and a spot lower than 15th. My optimism is a towards a season that may uncover some players for the future.sverik25 wrote:Why so pessimistic? Surely St Kilda won't go that much worse than last year. So if that the case you should easily be able to tell us you bottom 3 so that I can see who is going to be ahead of us.

Re: Expectations for 2013 Season
10th - last.
wont make 8
but as long as some future shines brightly through Im ok with that
Everyone talks bout our kids needing to bridge the gap yada yada but reality is its the players that slip into B Grade status that need stellar years if we have any hope of being genuine finalist. The Ray's, Gilberts, Jones, Armitage, Stevens, McEvoys, Gwilts, Maistens its these guys that have to step up consistency wise.
Put it this way - if Maisten, for example only, comes out and kicks 8 against Melbourne/GWS but cant get a touch against the Cats, Hawks, Pies etc....we are treading water.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.
