If we had somebody of Kozi 2013 ability in our reserves in 1997 we wouldn't be stuck on 1 flag!

Kosi is a legend. For god's sake put the big fella back in the back line. We've played with undersized backs for that long now and we've had Kosi struggling to get into the game consistantly up forward. He was a marvel in the back line where he first made his name, so they whacked him in the forward line. There must be some reason that I don't know about because I can't for the life of me understand why he's not used again down back, especially since there are some monster big forwards going around! So, Scotty...........!!!

His ability in 2012 and the start of 2013 or in 2009. He was our worst player yesterday. There was no ability. Cook was better in1997 than Kosi was in the second half of 2012.

Just watched replay. Sheesh kosi has to be a mile behind lee. Kosi is an elite set shot on goal but i just cant see him getting the ball much and when it hits the ground he becomes nothing more than a witches hat for opposition defenders.

Lee moves awfully well for a big guy. As someone said the arm guard probably upset his ball drop so dont get worried about the kicking yet. he can kick it fine.
once lee gets some more strength look out. im really keen on him.

I've never heard about that. Was it the game at mooorabin in '88 or '89 where locket won the game with a goal near the death and pumped both fist into the sky in that iconic image? I thoughtr his kicking was great well before that...

plugger66 wrote:Alright people are going to think this is completely unfair as we have only played 4 practice games and Kosi has only played 2 of those but I will say it anyway. Shoot me. Kosi will struggle to play a game in the seniors this year. Everything I say here is only on 3 quarters because I had to leave early. Happy for those who saw the whole game to tell me things changed in the last. Yesterday the club seemed to be saying Kosi you play forward just about all game and we will put the undersized Blake against Jamer for the game with the smallest breaks for Blake to rest. This meant Kosi was up forward for just about the whole game. I think Kosi touched the ball twice by 3 quarter time. Even got the ironical cheers when he took his first mark late in the third quarter. So people will say it is very early in the season. That is true as we havent even started the season but there are some on here that say Kosi plays better fresh so he should only play about 10 games the year. Well IMO that wont work as he is no where near ready for AFL footy and playing at Sandy is still a game of footy and wont keep you fresh.

Yesterday Lee was clearly better than him and he hasnt played much more footy this year than Kosi. Rooy whilst not doing a great deal was much better but that probably isnt fair because he is a freak. Meister was best of all forwards and we still have maybe fit Hickey and even Stanley in there somewhere even though he is likely to play back. Even young Jessie Hogan who is to young to play this year was much better than Kosi and he played one out at FF for the Dees to who were always on the back foot.

I know all this is very tough after 2 games but I am usually a players man even though I have occasionally said Kosi is struggling. I suppose what im saying is should Kosi play the first half of the year and if he is struggling should he retire with dignity or should he complete the season even if he knows he wont t get a game. Whatever happens I am happy for the Saints to pay him his full wages as he has been a great servant of the club and yes he has been well rewarded but I would still give him his full payment. The other question is if Kosi was to retire are you allowed to upgrade or must it be an injury. I know we have spots anyway but just interested if anyone knows.

Anyway I really hope i am proved wrong by Kosi as it will add to my ever increasing figure.
Kosi - bless him I'm sure hes a great bloke and he has been a bit of stall wort - bit he should have been let go this year - I don't think any posters on this forum think he should be getting a game - he has no second effort - no through lack of trying - he just can't recover and turn around - so the upshot is he can't maintain tackling pressure onthe forward line --so the team just can't afford to have him play

We have too much young talent now to "gift" games to older players who cannot justify their place on form.

He should be kept as back up. A season is a long time.

For those wanting three tall forwards without Lee or Stanley. Gilbert would offer more than Kosi.

However I would rather play someone like TDL, or Dunnel than Kosi given Kosi's current form.

Far too early to write Kosi off at this stage, given that Stanley is very brittle and Lee looks like a rag doll in a contest. If Stanley and Lee (and any other big forwards) miss for extended periods then Kosi will be a more than capable back up. Lee looks very promising and is very mobile but I am not sold on his body being strong enough to withstand the rigours of a tall forward position for a full season. Last year Wilkes played over 5 games for us as a fringe forward, so I would imagine that Kosi can also do that this year.

Yeah, he moves well, doesn't he.

He kicked 60-odd in WA last year, so obviously knows where they are. Just a matter of composure in his new surrounds and he'll be away.

But how to shoehorn him into a side that has Riewoldt and probably Maister ahead of him in key positions and possibly a resting ruckman as well? Without completely mucking up the side's balance, I mean.

Yes, Rooey is retiring in a few years but Lee might be ready now or very soon.

If we do end up playing all three, I'd like to see them rotated through full forward during the match.

I reckon two genuine rucks is important for our midfield, too. Don't want to see Ben run into the ground. I think down the track Hickey may be a better pure tap ruckman with Ben invaluable around the ground. He's sort of an oversized ruck rover who can also take the hitouts.

One of the turning points in drawn GF was Kozi going into ruck.

Why all this instant love for Tom Lee? He is a shocking kick based on what I saw yesterday.

Yep. Before halftime we were outplaying Carlton - and remember these were the days when Carlton were unbeatable. We had only beaten them 25 times in 90 years - and ten of those were in the 60s - but we were behind by a kick or something. Locket was kicking poorly and asked Hudson for pointers. Hudson took Lockett aside and gave him a tip or two and then he came out and blitzed.
Hudson also helped perfect Stewie Loewe's awkward kicking style by giving him a routine too.

Sad negative post denigrating a guy who has given heaps. If he doesn't play again so be it but have some respect for the guy. If they have players gone past him great, no need to post all the hasn't been any good for years stuff. Maister will miss a couple of goals in round one and the usual suspects will be sharpening the knives for him.
