Yep he is right to go next week. Trained fully this week but they let him rest another week. Might struggle round one with only one game at saints and one at Sandy.
Good effort P66 you havent missed anything. Thanks for all the info

Looks like from the stats that the only real concern out of today's game was the performance of Seb Ross. For the Saints to have a good few years we need our young mids to stand up. Seb instead seems to have gone missing. Yet last week he looked pretty good. If anyone that was at the game can make a comment it would be appreciated. :?

Anybody have any idea why our third ruckman was not played, Lew Pierce? I know he would be a bit light at this stage, but would still have done a better job then Blakey and Kosi.

Thanks P66 for some insight - the other worrying thing I can see from the sats is that apart from steven its only the old blokes who are tackling - hopefully the young blokes are doing the 1%ers ??

Thanks for the report pluggs.

Im pleased Lee is at least getting some ball and getting involved. Not worried about his kicking at this stage.

Also great news that Murdoch shows he can play.

Besides not having any ruckmen sounds like we fielded a semi full team today.

Roberton must be looking like he can get a game.

So far it looks like our recruits have done a great job for this season.

And no injuries.... touch wood.

Can imagine Stain Mussell and Raul Poos scanning the details of our game and texting each other:

'Well, the Dees did have 9 players out and the Saints were at full strength'.

'I love you Poosy'

'I love you Drain'

Why don't we watch a Swans DVD together and fondle each other?

My summary of those who played today.

Montagna - excellent. Went short a lot but used the ball well.
Dal Santo - joint BOG with Joey. His tackling was top notch.
Newnes - this kid is good. Lovely kick and a good ball winner.
Geary - mopped up nicely across half back and won plenty of contested ball.
Maister - has to play round one. Marks everything, his timing is perfect.
Steven - won plenty of contested ball and used it well.
Gwilt - cool and calm in defence. Set up plenty of play from deep.
Fisher - like Gwilt. Wasn't beaten in the air or on the ground.
Gilbert - solid down back, won lots of contested footy, I wish he'd use his right foot though.
Lee - good game, presented well and covered lots of ground. Could have easily had 5 goals.
Ray - did his job, didn't stand out but didn't make any glaring mistakes.
Milera - clean with the ball and threw his body in more than usual. Reckon he'll play R1.
Murdoch - solid across half back and is a good build. Used the ball well and goes in hard.
Roberton - really put his hand up today, played a Farren Ray type role today.
Siposs - didn't rack em up but used it so well. His tackling and second efforts were good.
Milne - roved well, did his job, missed a couple of easy ones though.
Riewoldt - solid return. Scratchy here and there but showed no signs that he's slowing down.
Hayes - only played about 30 mins, still looked good and went in hard.
Dempster - same as Hayes.
Dennis-Lane - did some nice things and got to good spots, still behind saad and Milera though.
Blake - smashed in the ruck but got around the ground well. Fit as he's ever looked.
Ross - tried hard and did some nice things, still a little way off our best 22 though.
Jones - tackled well but didn't get a lot of ball. Looks a long way off our best 22.
Koschitzke - looks thinner but his agility hasn't improved. Second efforts not there. Will struggle.

I thought Jamar was ordinary.... Massive size advantage, couldn't give his mids an advantage in th clearances.... Blanket competed very well as per usual and contributed around the ground.... Was our leading possession winner at one point...

Impressed with the contested ball

Disappointed with some poor decision making and turn overs.... But we looked very solid....

McEvoy, Stanley, Armitage and Saad into that side and Kosi, Lee, Ross and some kids out... We look not bad,

I'm very interested to see if these two will be picked in round one. TDL has kicked goals consistently in the pre season but doesn't get enough of it around the ground, although he puts in plenty of good one-percenters to help the team. I'd say he's competing with Milera for a spot and I'd be leaning towards TDL, since he seems more capable of kicking a bag of goals and is stronger in the air/over the ball. Milera gets more of the footy and may be better for team balance though.

Kosi certainly does look thinner but he doesn't look like he has any more muscle definition. It sounds very harsh, but he is both weak and slow. It seems he's dropped a couple of kgs to improve mobility but if it's muscle that he's lost then he's probably in a worse position than last year. Beau has moved well ahead of him IMO and Kosi would now be our fifth ruck option. If Lee tidies up his game then Kosi could find himself well down the pecking order.

Reiwoldt ran back with the flight and took a great mark in front of us on the wing in the third q. Luckily the demon players body kinda brushed off the side.
I was thinking he's gonna kill himself in a nab cup game.
Brave as ever.

On todays performance I would be leaning towards Milera myself.

I would imagine with the season now close that they mainly want to get games into players who are a good chance of playing seniors this year.

Peirce is no chance.

We have improved from last year. I think you can say that with confidence and really you can't ask for much more...

Really? I didn't go today, but I would assume that you can't genuinely comment on whether we have improved on last year until we start playing real matches?

I'm in NO doubt we have improved... So have other teams...

But we're heading in the right direction, and whilst most have us sliding, I'm predicting a surprisingly good year...

The BeauMaister is a lock for HFF this year one grabbers everywhere and his 2nd and 3rd efforts are great.
Newnnes should start as prob an interchange runs well great skills nice kicking for goal.
