The lists demonstrate just how irrelevant the article was... Maybe relevant to DT nerds?!
Any knowledgable footy player, coach, fan, umpire, commentator would laugh at list... Such is the quality of the joke...
McEvoy might get more points, but He ain't in our best 10....
Had nothing to do with our best 10, it was Champion Data's rating of players in their position based on last years stats.
Why don't you read the article before going off half cocked?
Mc Evoy's around the ground stats obviously bump up his overall stats - they must have very little variation between hit outs to advantage and just getting a hand to the ball. If it's based on stats for the position they play in guys like rebound defenders or guys who play multiple roles are always going to be advantaged.
The titles are so ridiculously inflammatory as the Elite means top ten by position. Below average is is not in the top 10 for position or equal to the averaged out stats for position. Poor means outside the statistic average of players in their position. Added to that the fact that the positions are not clearly defined.
Heath Shaw might get 30 possessions and be put up next to Dempster who might stop 6 goals but plays a different small defensive role.
Its what it is. It is champion data stats on position. It isnt opinion at all. The only thing that we can have an opinion on is whether those stats mean anything. I think stats can do anything you want them to do and this is perfect example. Ben is last of the regular ruckmen is hitouts won when contested or some such thing but is also elite in the ruckmen category. Champion data did both these stats.
You know how I reckon is best way to work out who is and isnt a good player. Watch the game.
