Seems we still have some injured players
Have no idea how to provide a link but the Saints website suggests that Lenny and Rooy wont be back until next week which also suggests they have been injured. i know we only have GC first game but one practice isnt an ideal preparation for even experinced guys. From the sounds of it this weeks squad will again be pretty inexpericed which isnt an issue as long as the guys have enough practice games. You would think at least 2 is ideal especially as they miss week before the first game.

Simpkin and Lee are a bit mysterious. Any word on them?

Didnt someone say Lee had a bandage on his arm. As much as that is mysterious its more important to get games into our stars. One can only suggest they have been injured.
Re: Seems we still have some injured players
Guess if you think of it this way....I'd rather Nick/Lenny to have a slow start to the year, than overdo it?

Thats true but i bet they would want at least 2 games practice if they had been fit. The last thing we can do for this season is lose to the GC first up.

Maybe they are just on very modified programs…
Roo's knee hardly needs extra work, he is good enough to walk straight in, same goes for the haymaker.

Re: Seems we still have some injured players
I heard Scott say before the 1st pre-season game that he didn't really want Roo or Lenny out playing too many trial games at their age. He stated 1-2 games is all they need. I don't reckon they're injured, I just reckon Watters isn't that fussed about playing them yet. Unusual I have to agree on that, but I couldn't imagine Lenny or Roo getting too worked up in these games. Hopefully one full blown dress rehearsal next week, and we'll be cherry ripe....
Re: Seems we still have some injured players
The club's playing funny buggers with the injury list again. I suppose it's a tactical move because they don't want Melbourne to know that Tom Lee is injured and probably won't play in this meaningless preseason game. Or else the club is just incompetent and so the left hand isn't talking to the right hand.Con Gorozidis wrote:Simpkin and Lee are a bit mysterious. Any word on them?

also guess that each and every game is important the way the league is set up these days and we do have to improve on last yearSainterK wrote:Guess if you think of it this way....I'd rather Nick/Lenny to have a slow start to the year, than overdo it?
sadly our depth doesnt run that deep that we can easily cover our two ageing stars

Injured or managed
Most of Those players are between 29-33
They would be fit, but dont need as much match conditioning as a greenhorn..... In fact, they need less wear an tear....
Simpkin is interesting, he needs the exposure, unlike say Lenny.... Who we are pretty certain can play at the level...
Players often come off long term injuries mid season and slot back in.....

Re: Seems we still have some injured players
Whilst I agree they dont need as much conditioning I still doubt they wouldnt play a game before the 4th round if they hadnt had a pretty recent injury. They sill may play this week but it didnt sound like it. You even said you thought they would play at least a half this week.

Re: Seems we still have some injured players
Would be surprised if those missing so far play a half at Sandringham this week to blow off cobwebs and show rest of list that anyone can play at Sandy
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

Gold coast round one so maybe roi and Lenny aren't injured?
Maybe a long rest and ease them back into it?
Dunno

Re: Seems we still have some injured players
You can't afford to ease anyone into anything in the AFL. Look at our "great" start last season against Port. As plugger said, we really need to get off to a good start against GC and not take anyone lightly.matrix wrote:Gold coast round one so maybe roi and Lenny aren't injured?

As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Can we please delete this thread. I have no idea by the looks of it. That should please many.
