Re: DWANE RUSSELL
A simple chest mark 30m straight in front, and a goal follows, is simply a sensational mark and goal according to Dwayne.

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
I meant to do this last season after I read about Roos shocking commentary during the Saints/Shitney game but I never got around to it.
I loved Roos as a player and he was ok as a coach. But his efforts recently in the media with his one eyed s*** has made me dislike him now.
Excuse me while I go and rip up his autobiography which I bought back in 1997......
Done! Ripped into 5 pieces and dumped in the recycling bin. I feel much better now

I still think Roos was pretty good yesterday but that doesnt mean Russell was. He dobbed in the Swans for the interchange infringement even tough he was wrong. He never said we only had a couple out. I dont see why he would be biased in a practice game considering he never tried to win one but even if he was slightly biased so would i be if I was coach of side I was in charge of that won a flag for the first time in over 70 years. No excuse but just the way most people are. By the wat Roos loved the Saints and Plugger was his favoiurite player so Im sure there is still a very slight spot in his heart for us.

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
When Dwayne said we had a couple of players missing he was thinking of Tom Lee, who according to Dwayne (and a few on here) was a direct swap for pick 12 so obviously in our best 22.

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
Didnt Roos go off the Saints regarding perceived poor treatment of his mate Rossy Lyon?
I mean after all it was the Saints fault that Lyon invested everything in a get rich quick scheme.
It was also the Saints fault that Lyon had no interest in developing players or keeping one eye on the future of the club. SO yeah totally fair that Roos now hates the Saints out of loyalty to his mate.

Who was it who called Watters "Waters"? Think it was Mooney. Pretty bad when you can't get the coach's name right.

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
He made the comments On The Couch early last year along the lines of "If you knew the real reasons whay Ross left you would understand his decision". And he left it at that. Didn't have the nuts to actually say what the real issues were.Con Gorozidis wrote:Didnt Roos go off the Saints regarding perceived poor treatment of his mate Rossy Lyon?

Pretty easy and mischievous comment to make. Sticking up for his mate. He made it quite clear what he thought of St Kilda during his commentary of the Saints and Swans game in Sydney last year. He actually embarrassed himself. It was cringeworthy.
Roos has an agenda.
Dwayne on the other hand is just a goose with little football knowledge.

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
There's a strong case for having Kosi out of the 22, but Schneids is an automatic selection when fit. He's one of the best users of the ball in the team, has valuable experience and is just a smart footballer. I'd like to see him playing off half back a bit this year to add another quality ball user into the mix.st.byron wrote:Agree with an earlier post. Though his injury record is very concerning.
Re: DWANE RUSSELL
Watched the replay last night and he actually said "Saints almost at full strength with only a couple out"plugger66 wrote: He never said we only had a couple out.
Direct quote.
Regardless, it is obvious that the commentary have been directed to talk up Swans for the Sydney audience. Its all about ratings not if the commentator is biased and they want more TV's tuning into Foxtel in the Sydney market. All about money.
And agreed with Roos. Obviously loves the Swans but was pretty fair on the Saints and did a lot of praising of individual Saints players. Lynch and Mooney were also OK. Russell banged on and on and on and on about Sydenys missing players and their wonderful youngsters.
I was interesting in their excuses re fitness. Halfway through the game Russell mentioned how fit both teams were, but when the Saints ran ove them int he final term it was because the Saints had a four week advantage in preperation over the GF winning Swans. Funnily it hasn't effected the Pies too much and they only had one week less. Didn't effect us too much in 2010 when we made the final.
Russell with his "chaos ball" and "making it someone elses problem" cliched commentary is really ablight on the game.
Lance or James??

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
yeah seems we dont get much love from commentators, on the big pond replay last nikght at quarter 4 it cuts to the boys in perth preparing for commentating on the pies game.
Basically all standing around doing their hair, and you here kingy say "this sweat is not from the sun its because i have money on the swans!"

Hahahaha.... Glad this is a thread. I was watching this game early this morning and picked up on his comments, ruined the rest of the game for me because I was too busy wondering about how this guy continues to get a contract..... Honestly can't stand the guy.
Re: DWANE RUSSELL
in this weeks "inside football", russell holmesby states that paul roos should never be allowed to commentate sydney games.....
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Looking forward to watching ALL games this season with the volume muted. I've been spoilt by the great commentating in the NFL.

Re: DWANE RUSSELL
To be fair to roos - schneider didn't play, dempster got subbed so really he only knew the name of 1 saint on the pitch
I loved his half time special comments - when he said (something like ) ""the saints did manage some good play like when trent dennis lane got it and it opened up a bit and he kicked to ah... a saints player who took a mark " brilliant
If anyone knows an email address for fox sports management perhaps they could send the below article to them and ask them to forward it to dwayne russell with an apology that it wasn't sent before last weeks call
