Re: Go away CJ
I think that the majority of us have been questioning CJ's place in the team for a few years now.

has been in the same patch of form since mid 2010
I thought it was a bit later but it was basically when the traditional tagger went the way of the Tasmanian tiger. If CJ is still a regular then we are going backwards.
you may be right regarding the timing plugs
and you're spot with your second point
i have no idea what value having a player like CJ in the starting 22 adds. Average performance, no prospect for improvement and denying others a chance for experience

I disagree. Over the last few years, when I've brought this up, I usually get met with "he's an elite tagger that would walk into any other team".
Very frustrating

I know you wont like this but you think nearly everyone mentioned will play plenty of games. Only 22 can play every week and we also need to get games into young guys and that is why CJ and maybe Ray may struggle even if their form is pretty good.

Funnily enough pluggs, I seem to remember you pretty solid last year that CJ's place in the side was def safe… You were pulling me up when I suggested it was time for him to go back to sandy… (Don't make me find the posts please)plugger66 wrote:gringo wrote:I still think he will play plenty of games in 2013 and he is not just a tagger.

Our options were probably limited at the time. I hope the young guys get a go.

Re: Go away CJ
He was good in 2009 (who wasn't, at least until the last match?). No good now. Zero confidence about disposing of the footy, probably with good reason. Blokes who can't kick the footy by age 15 will never learn to kick it much better. A friend of mine who barracks for Melbourne recently said to me that the next Melbourne premiership captain hasn't been born yet. That's perhaps 25 years at least. At the moment, I'd take 25 years.

Re: Go away CJ
I wish I had been playing footy in those temperatures last Sunday, but anyway, there were a couple of more skilled players out there who didn't set the world on fire, and CJ didn't do a bad job considering

I wont. I remember it well. At the time I thought he deserved a game. He was eventually dropped because Joey started doing the tagging and if CJ isnt tagging then he shouldnt play. You were right eventually or maybe even straight away. I am a woman so I can change my mind.

Jones can't kick and can barely tag. If he gets a senior gig then we'll be struggling in the present and not building for the future.

Re: Go away CJ
Lot of respect for CJ and how he goes about it. Wish he could bloody kick or handball though!

Yeah! While real men form an opinion and just stick to it, regardless of if the facts prove that they were wrong all along.matrix wrote:and pay attention
