Pretty sure that it is a temperature. But you go on believing what you want despite the evidence presented.

I will guarantee you this, p66...If we don't whinge then nothing will be done.
The AFL need to be called out on yesterday. It is good to see that our coach thinks along a different path to you and has highlighted the club's concerns.
Just as well we are not all "yes men" like you.
Alright they call it a temperature but it a combination of things to get to the point. If you think it is only temperature how do games start in 40 degree heat?
By the way to prove that the wet bulb temperature has actually bugger all to do with temperature it is only 28 when it can be called off in tennis and if the actual temperature is over 35. So much for us thinking the wet bulb was 35 or 36.
As for whinging on here nothing will be done. Completely different if Scott Watters says it.
well well well
log into the thread to see comments and am i surprised king numpty nuff nuff is completely disagreeing with everyone and everything they say?
nope...not surprised
port fans laughing sitting in front of us at the early frees they got
temp way to hot, they should have shortened the halfs
why make the breaks longer but keep the halfs at 20 mins??
no
make the halfs shorter therefore increasing the breaks and then the game doesnt go over the time limit
afl run by numpties bigger than our resident numpty
obvious port were going to get up
had pretty much a full side and hadnt just played 40 mins of footy
my summary
gilbert....im sorry but he is my new whipping boy, tries hard but is really making stupid decisions, and he still cant hit a target
hickey, thought looked alright
saad and milera are a welcome and must play
sippa looked alright
newnes and dunnell didnt get enough of it to really see how they will go
it was 38 degrees but apparently it wasnt 38 degrees and a light bulb had some influence on this
ask pluggsy
he'll tell you

What more can you expect from a grown man who sits in the cheer squad. Joffa comes to mind. You really are a simple man. With simple ideas. Its is so much better to whinge about everything. The umpiring was ok. The heat was too hot. Would tennis have been called off. Dont know as we dont know th wet bulb. Comprehend adult in a cheer squad man or Joffa to your mates.

"For "dry" air, air that is less than saturated (i.e., air with less than 100 percent relative humidity), the wet-bulb temperature is lower than the dry-bulb temperature due to evaporative cooling."
seriously either get off the grog at this time of the day or go back to school
and errr we sit in the cheer squad bay to keep all the sainters together when interstate, to catch up with friends from melbs instead of sitting next to a port fan spilling his beer and yelling things about milney every time the ball is withing 100 feet of him
and there was no cheer squad this week mr intelligence
everyone sat in the shade
the halfs should have been made shorter. full stop
it would have not changed anything to do with the tv etc
they should have gone to 17 min halfs which would have given the sides extra mins for the half time breaks
its over 100 degrees, it was bad enough in the shade, could only imagine what it wouldve been like in the sun, wuldve prob felt like 120 running around
Jackson Ferguson was not given much of a run, coming on with 8 minutes left in the second game. I liked the look of him. His agility was good, when he did the Lenny Hayes dance around an opponent. I would like to see more of him, and I am interested in how he is in aerial contests.

So you never sit in the cheer squad normally. If true I am sorry and when did i ever say they shouldnt have shortened the quarters. Not once. And by the way been to Adelaide many times and have sat with many Sainters and we are no where near the cheer squad. Matter of fact I get my tickets through the club and are never allocated anywhere near the cheer squad and thank god. They do a fantastic job but it should be for people under 21 unless you are sitting with your kids in there.

Glad you noticed as well Barry, it was very Lenny like....I think he earned more of a run next game.
Not that it matters… but are we likely to be out of the NAB cup now?
Would depend on next week obviously, but I'm not accross how the format plays out…
i dont know why it would even be argued against...blind freddy could see right from the start that the umpires were going to favour port...always have for some reason.....
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

As only the pies have won 2 games so we are well and truely still in it. I would expect maybe 3 teams to win all their games after the first round. That would mean we have to win the next 2 games by a reasonable margin and hope at least 2 of those 3 teams suffer one loss. one loss with a high percentage should get you into the final.

All games count, so teams can get up to 16 points
2 top teams after week 3 (4the week with broken rd 1 ) play off in GF
If more than 2 teams eligible % based on winning margins I think

Cheers brat & pluggs…
I'm not mad on the lightning premiership first round, but I do like that each team gets 3 decent hitouts, rather than being banished after a loss. It is a practice comp after all.
My take
Lee: looked out of place at start, showed some class in the second game thou, doesn't seem strong enough yet, think his more of a 3rd tall
Hickey: really like him. Moves really well and marks strongly. Hope he plays all year
Dennis lane: surprised me, knows where the goals are, just not sure if we can play all thoses small forward in the same team
Newnes: just seems to do most things right, very clean ball handler
Sippos: best kick in the team, will play the Godard role
Armo: becoming one of my favs, looks really fit , hopefully can get his disposal av to 25 ish
Gwilt: looks to b moving much better, great kick still
Saad milera: think we underrate how good theses 2 are, not easy to come into afl and get your couple of goals each game. Doing really well
Ross: good size midfielder. Hope he gets a lot of opportunity
Wilkes: should play full forward all year I hope. If he can provide a target and get 40 goals for the year would be a bargin pick up. Looks much fitter this year
Overall it's hard to tell how we went, with the short games and the heat. Just glad no one was injured too
For anyone interested, wet bulb temperature is part of the process in measuring humidity. Wet bulb by itself is not that significant but is a component of measuring "heat stress" conditions. Normal temperature is measured in the shade (actually inside a housing called a Stephenson Screen, kind of a louvred white wooden box), and unions some years ago wanted to move from using straight temperature as a worksite cut-off as heat stress is a result of more factores than just straight temperature. The heat stress monitors that were developed at that time incorporated a black bulb (radiant heat) temperature, wet globe temperature, and standard dry bulb air temperature.
The first time the black bulb temperature surfaced in the media was when channel nine started using it in cricket braodcasts and stating that it was indicative of the temperature inside a batsmans helmet (reasonably close to the mark). Heat stress occurs at lower temperatures if humidity is higher and more rapidly if radiant heat is high. In other words it is a factor of all 3 components, not just wet bulb temperature.
Oh, and the reason I know, is that I worked for 7 years at the company that made the first heat stress monitors in Australia.

Lee was mentioned in St Kilda's best verse Port on the AFL website. I think he was just starting to find the pace. It'll come and he'll be a worthwhile investment IMO. He's too talented not to make it.

Nice to see some facts in the thread, thanks mate. Obviously those having the argument will ignore them completely, though!

Hey Matrix sorry i couldnt find you guys yesterday mate. Jen and i ended up sitting in the members stand for the crow game(very quiet around us lol) then we went and spoke to Saintbrat and Georgie and then sat behind northern goals but in the shade. We went back to the members game for the second half of the port game as we were surrounded by the ferals from port. Then we left after that game and met up with dools and saintbrat and Georgie. We dropped Georgie and Saintbrat at the airport. And to Plugger I am 58 years old and my wife and i sit with or near the cheersquad when the Saints play here as it is safety in numbers and these cheersquad people are very nice people. They are after the same thing and that is victory for the Saints. So I must be a simple man like Matrix. But hey i dont care its better than being a know all , know nothing like you

Yes you are a simple man and gutless like the PM you sent me a couple of years ago. And i have been to the ground at Adelaide and never had any trouble and dont sit near the cheer squad so i gather you are a trouble make as well. And when did i even mention that the cheer squad were anything but nice people. I will stick by my comments. it should be for kids or parents who are with their kids. If there is trouble in a cheer squd it would be made by older people. And i have never once bagged the cheer squad on here. They do a fantastic job and never understand why people ever have a go at the stuff they say. At least they are trying.
