Still do not undersatnd how he slipped through to pick 30.
He slipped through because Collingwood cheated the system.

Didn't we have no negotiating position? Ball was out of contract and refused to talk to any other clubs than Collingwood. Collingwood knew they were in the box seat so they basically refused to deal fairly with us - as anyone would do in that situation. Short of treating him better do he wanted to stay, there was nothing we could really do.

Correct and the AFL allowed Collingwood to manipulate the draft to get him. At the time what was the club to do in regards to a trade? Yes thanks Collingwood we will take that donkey you dont want and heres a player that your desperate for. Supporters would be wrapt that we had Luke Rounds on our list in 2010 just to say we got something. Ball bent us over.

No he didnt. He did what any sane person would do but if it makes you feel better blame the person that leaves and not look at rationally. It was a combination of many thing but to just blame Ball is one eyed to the extreme.

He did but not intentionally. Both clubs couldn't do a deal but that wasn't exactly LB fault.

What was he supposed to say? "Sorry Pies, I'll go to a club where my team can get the most for me". No one does that.

Clubs are money making enterprises and they can't spend unless they generate money. we were in a great position after runners up two years in a row but failed to capitalise because our brand looked s***. Lyon had been trained up in Sydney where they sent money and people when ever they were needed and were answerable to no one.

our structures look a lot better poised to be viable and strong for extended periods even without on field success and as much as everyone hates collingwood they have a brand that sells it's self after people got it to that point. Scott Watters has been well drilled in the multi faceted role of coach and should bring his own standards into play.

having Pelchen overseeing the football department has another function in putting the list management and contracting away from the coach and freeing up other time for the marketing. Lke Holmsby or what ever his name is will be good as every club needs to keep on top of their media to stay visible.

I can remember being 18 in the early 90s and having to organise my membership through the club was a joke they were so unprofessional it was like they didn't want you. now they ring you if you haven't renewed with in day of the season ending.

Isn't there precedence? The club sacked Tony Jewel in 84 when we came second last..or was that last? Club wanted to come last to maintain its excellent 80s performance of being the cellar dwellers.[/quote]

The word is PRECEDENT.
Don't see where the similarities lie.
One was both a good bloke and a recent premiership coach.
the other simply a megalomaniac!!

It was a joke. I was being ironic by making fun of our 80's losing culture. Want a picture?

thanks for picking up on my typos though. You're useful which might help you get rid of your existential angst.

So you are saying Judd went to Carlton because it gave the best deal to WCE. Nothing to do with what they offered him.
