OK I'm going to put the prediction goggles on. Next year Siposs will win games for us, Geary, Steven and Armo will start to take over the elite midfield roles and become better players. Saad will become an a grade small forward. Gilbert will get back to AA form and Schnieder will show he still has some elite talent.

We will get a greater spread of goal kickers and be a fast break team. Simpkin, Gwilt, Fisher, Gilbert and Dempster will become a harder defensive unit especially if we can add a tall KPB in there.

Lee will get some bags of goals while Kosi will have time in and out of the team but tease with some huge games. Milera will join newnes, Dunnel and Ross in getting time running the ball out of defence. Hickey will become a whipping boy when he doesn't play many games despite his high draft spot.

our midfield will be exposed at times and by the end of next year we will be whinging about our lack of mid fielders coming through.

I think you found your marijuana goggles instead of your prediction goggles, I would like to borrow them when you are finished as life must be pretty sweet in those babies…

2011 was kind of like 1998 all over again , Last season was kind of like 1999 all over again. Have a bad bad feeling 2013 is gonna be like 2000 ( Ouch )
But bring on 2016/17 , we will be freaking awesome by then ( maybe)

Hope springs eternal ! Agree regarding the youth develop. Like the style of play now which is less dour and more fluent.
I have to say it, glad ralphe is gone and wish kosi was too.

Exactly.

As one of those who has lived through decades of failure, the prospect of a down period does not faze me or dampen my enthusiasm.

I just love the Saints.

I intend to enjoy watching our champs in their twilight years, our young men taking further steps in their careers and our young kids as they surprise and, at times, excite us.

Anything else will be a, much appreciated, bonus.
Ditto!

success in the AFL these days depends more on your injury list than just about anything else, at least for the top 12-8 clubs anyway. If you have a good run with injuries, and manage to keep the same team on the park for the majority of games, then you will generally win more than you lose. Its been a huge factor in the swans success over the last 7 years, and one of the reasons why they are continually underated, and has a pretty big factor for us in 09/10. The following team (as a general example) if it can stay on the park for the majority of games, is capable of playing finals and from there on who knows? All it takes is the rise of a few of youngsters (lets say Siposs, Simpkin and Stanley) and a consistently good year from the established stars (Roo, Lenny, Dal, Sam F) and anything could happen. We don't have the depth to cover injuries though, or the talent to cover repeated disruptions to the team structure, so all it will take will be the loss of a couple of the stars or lots of injuries across the list and we will be 12-9 range.

Dempster Simpkin Fisher

Gwilt Gilbert Siposs

Dal Lenny Monty

Saad Stanley Lee

Milne Roo Schneider

McEvoy Armo Steven

Roberton Milera Ledger Kosi

How can we not be Excited?????

Most of the list cloggers have been given the boot and we have some exciting if umproven talent to look at!!!
Please see below points over last 2 years for us to be truelly excited about!!!!

1. Nearly all list cloggers have been moved on.
2. So much youth, flair and speed injected through new recruits. (if again unproven yet)
3. Board is the finest now in the land.
4. We are media Freindly to all and get more coverage.
5. Academy in place with specialist coaches.
6. More attacking stlye.
7. Seaford in years to come will be a great move as all new players know nothing else.

And there are many more points to get bloody excited about!!!! While we may not set this years comp alight we have certainly set the entire club up for the best opportunity in years to come!!!!!!!!!!

GET EXCITED SAINTERS, GET EXCITED!!!!!!!

Not according to one at the HS

Saints to have their worst season since 2002

ST KILDA is the slider of 2013. The Saints won 12 games under Scott Watters last year but it’s hard to see them replicating that feat, and they could have their worst season since the Malcolm Blight debacle a decade ago. Brendon Goddard is gone and the likes of Lenny Hayes, Nick Riewoldt, Leigh Montagna, Nick Dal Santo, and co aren’t getting any younger. The gulf in the Saints list is similar to the Dogs, who were exposed in 2012 for that reason. The fixture looks OK, so that should help secure a handful of wins, but it could be a while until the core group of talented teenagers the Saints are starting to assemble clicks. Tom Lee and Tom Hickey are raw but come with high hopes, and while the Saints are on the right track long term, you just get the feeling there could be a stack of pain to bear first.

Newnes and Ross will be very, very good this year. They won t swing games but they are the foundation for the next tilt.

written if my memory is not completely faulty by the author who deemed the Saints all the fault a couple of years ago in relation to an off field issue- and one like many others who were stung to be proven so so wrong it wasn't funny..... But that wouldn't colour his writing in any way of course....

I imagine we will have to introduce some youth into our defence, to add that magic ingredient, speed. As it is our current defence looks slow.
