If you are talking Stephen Theodore then he definitely should get a game on the half forward flank.stevie wrote:I'm a leftie and I was a pretty good kick too.
Was Sziller a leftie?
Pretty sure Sziller was a right-footer.

Pretty sure Val Perovic was right foot. Just checked on youtube - watched a 'life after footy' segment with some footage of Val Perovic at Carlton. Didn't show much but marked and kicked with his right.

I'm only going on memory but I saw Perovic play a lot and I am sure he was a right footer.
My memory of Theodore is a bit fuzzy, but I thought he was a right footer.(?)

GT can slot into CHB.Uncle Barrels wrote:Everything I've read says Perovic was a leftie - suggests he was the genesis of Carlscum fans' fascination with yelling 'woof' every time a nominated leftie kicked the pill, like Christou.
But then again, I have zero direct knowledge.
Any other nominations for a replacement CHB then?

What about my all time favourite? Was breathtakingly fluent on either side. You could say left or right and pass as either.

Re: The All-Time St Kilda Left Footers XXV
Nobody has mentioned John McIntosh; when he swang around on his left foot he could ht a team mate 50 metres downfield on the chest every time. Second only to Stewie in my opinion. A decade later, George Young was a fantastic if somewhat forgotten player in a very ordinary team.

Re: The All-Time St Kilda Left Footers XXV
the best left foot kick i ever saw in a saints jumper was kevin (noofa) roberts.....his left foot dropkicks for goal were a sight to behold.......nothing even approaching his grace and kicking style playing today.....only a broken collarbone prevented him from playing in our best remembered and most successful team of all time.....the 66 grannie...he would slot comfortably into a hff....

Vladimir "Val" Perovic (Croatian: Perović) (born 25 September 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda and Carlton in the VFL.
Born in Croatia (at the time part of Yugoslavia), Perovic emigrated to Ballarat in Australia with his family in 1958, at the age of four.[1] Despite starting his career as a wingman, Perovic played mostly as a defender and was a centre half-back when he first represented Victoria in 1978. After 77 games with St Kilda during the 1970s he moved to Carlton in a trade involving Alex Jesaulenko. He was a member of Carlton premiership teams in 1981 and 1982, playing in the back pocket.[2]
Perovic was noted for his long left-foot kicks. During his time at Carlton, fans would shout "woof!" every time he kicked the ball. Perovic was the first Carlton player whose kicks were acknowledged in this way. This chant, originally based on the crowd mimicking a grunt that Perovic would make when kicking the ball, has since become a traditional chant bestowed upon later long-kicking left-footed Carlton players, specifically: Ang Christou in the 1990s, Chris Bryan in the 2000s, and Matthew Watson in the 2010s.[3]
Perovic often polled well in the Brownlow Medal, finishing as St Kilda's top vote getter in the 1978 award[4] and twice for Carlton which included an eight placing in 1983.[5]

I don't care what the wiki says, Perovic was definitely a right footer.
An interesting interview with him here, with footage of him kicking, on his right.

I am quite sure both Perovic and McIntosh were right footers.
Never liked McIntosh. Tried to get his autograph in the early '70's, transcript as follows:

John McIntosh - Say please!
V3 - Can I have your autograph please?
JM - Say please!!
