St Kilda................ here we come with Monty

Post: # 1290836Post loris »

No I'm not talking about our Joey................. but Monty Hall the marine biologist cum TV presenter.

He has a great series of docos called Monty Halls' Island Escape shown on Friday 7.30pm SBS One. At the end of last nights show he mentioned, next show he is off to St Kilda................. Scotland that is not Seaford folks

So if you want to find out about that wild bit of Scotland where our team's name originated, tune in to SBS1 next Friday eve at 7.30pm.

St kilda is a barren windswept place , much like our trophy cabinet !

Lots of birds there and rodents , much like the suburb !

Most islanders left the place years ago , much like our supporters , Hungry !

Friday 4th Jan
Monty Halls'Island Escape
7:30pm - 8:30pm
Classified:GGenre:Documentary
Marine biologist and professional diver Monty Halls is back in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, living the good life and working as a volunteer wildlife ranger in the Outer Hebrides. He's busy leading nature treks along stunning white sand beaches, exploring tourist trails into the hills, and setting up nature trails. But serious adventure also beckons, with a two-day boat trip to the islands known as the "edge of the world", St Kilda.

Oh don't tell us that we have to go to the "edge of the world" again, I thought 2010 was enough of a nightmare :( :(

Maybe instead of the Saints doing a high altitude camp next year in US, maybe a little wintry trip to Scottish, St Kilda and they can confront their demons and get over the "edge of the world" and scale the highest summit?

Yes,I thought it much improved with a few more dashes.
(Don't know why it came out repeated, not just edited. Not the first time I've mucked it up.)

I think the image is actually of A vid.
If you look at the island it has a big 'A' at the left hand end, then a big 'V', then maybe just possibly an 'i' and then sort of a 'd' trailing off at the end.
Remarkable eh?

I have surmised about that idea for some years now- and combine with a bit of world heritage volounteering.
not sure they should take on the means the Original locals took for Birds egg collecting- hanging from and climbing the craigs on the cliff faces.

I read " the Life and Death of St Kilda " last year and a facsinating read on the demise of a community- some of the original St Kildans even emigrated to Victoria- Box Hill from memory
