Re: Daniel Markworth suspected ACL injury??
It's like we're destined to have an ACL injury every year....
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Gutted if true
TC would be in line as a midfield replacement but sheesh.
I had high hopes.

Daniel will be a great footballer no matter what, hopefully it's not a torn ACL.

wait for confirmation before spilling your guts
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: Daniel Markworth suspected ACL injury??
Bloody hell, was hoping he would play 6-10 games this year. Devo
Re: Daniel Markworth suspected ACL injury??
If it's accurate then that's a real shame. Hopefully its not ruptured but the doctors are normally pretty accurate with this type of thing. Hopefully Seb Ross can stand up this year and play 8-10 games. I was hoping Markworth would debut also!

Sometimes a year off when your young can be a great motivator. hopefully he sees how quickly you can miss out and uses it to come back with extra motivation. Lenny would be a good person to talk to for support.

Re: Daniel Markworth suspected ACL injury??
I know they were very aware of looking after his body this year, resting him from games at various times, but you do wonder about how much work & bulk they put into these young guys in a hurry. Hopefully it was just a freak occurrence and he doesn't have a genetic disposition to these types of injuries like the Menzel boys.millarsaint wrote:really disappointing if this is the case. wonder if the extra bulk had anything to do with it
Here's to a full recovery Danny. Good luck.
Re: Daniel Markworth suspected ACL injury??
From my limited knowledge, Im not sure amounts of workload can influence an ACL at all?..
Just a freak twist in an manner can snap it..
Is LARS an option for him?

Re: Daniel Markworth suspected ACL injury??
Doing you knee hurts a lot at the time... I know, poor guy. After a few minutes, it feels fine, but it will swell up a lot. Hopefully its not an acl, its quite hard to tell if its a partial tear. We feared the worst with Armo in 09 and Siposs this year?, hopefully we can have some luck. There's always an upside if he has, you mature a lot, and you push yourself harder with what you can do while you heal.
This will give him the opportunity to put on some bulk and size, and to be honest, if it was my personal preference, if you were bound to do your knee, you'd rather do it early in the season, and be right for the following year, rather than doing it midway, and trying to get up and ready for the following mid year, where you've missed all pre-season and your just not right.
Oh and the flight should be ok, I went go karting at night on the same day I did my knee. I basically had a partial tear of my acl + meniscus, was advised to leave it as is, played sport with it for 2 years, then tore it completely at beginning of the 3rd, 2 days after Lenny did his in 10. The exact same pain, experienced twice, sucks. Anyway that probably enough of my life story, I could go on and on
The good thing about being in the AFL is you've got lots of support and great doctors (oh and you get paid to play, not the other way round where I pay to play). I learned my lesson from my first experience and bought health insurance so it was a lot less mucking around than the first time having to deal with the public system etc.
