PSD
well 2 interesting outcomes from PSD + rookie draft:
1. No garlett anywhere
2. 2 VFL fullbacks taken: Hartigan (adelaide) and Frost (collingwood)... it will be interesting to see how they go..
we *must* have had a look at them.. right? Or are we still just have tunnel vision for Brown?

Re: PSD
After what I was told about why Garlett was overlooked in the ND, I'm not at all surprised that he wasn't taken today either. The only thing I was surprised about was that a club invited him to train with them at all.

Well, let me put it this way, I hope anyone that had their cars parked near Windy Hill in the past week or so had them well locked and I hear that ice is not just just something you put into drinks.

Re: PSD
garlett name is well known around bassendean
dayle only has himself to blame, everyone around him has been trying to portray him as an innocent 17 yr old who has made some minor mistakes. just not accurate at all. doesnt have the attitude to make it.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: PSD
Yeah, that's what I've heard. I hear it's nasty stuff. It can even cause you to not get picked up in a draft, it would seem, a new side-effect that hasn't been spoken about previously.matrix wrote:AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Well, let me put it this way, I hope anyone that had their cars parked near Windy Hill in the past week or so had them well locked and I hear that ice is not just just something you put into drinks.

Re: PSD
I see the filth picked up Kyle Martin from Frankston/Noble Park. A 23yo mature aged recruit was someone I hoped we would have looked at. Supposed to have sublime skills and good reports from Simon Goosey.
Maybe we saw something the filth didn't.

Sing it loud and sing it proud but most of all hang around for this club will rise to claim the prize and then we will realise its not such a surprise.

Re: PSD
I was told that there was someone at Frankston that we were quite keen on, but evidently we were not quite keen enough. There were only 45 that we really considered were worth drafting this year, hence trading away all the picks we had between 45 and 75 in the ND (we left 75 free to pick up Dunell, but then chose to use it as a "live pick" after we sacked Gram) and not bothering with either of today's drafts.

Considering Dons had committed to pick up Prismall prior to him going to Port to train, he really stuffed up!Dr Spaceman wrote:From what I can see it looks like no Toy either.SuperDuper wrote:well 2 interesting outcomes from PSD + rookie draft:

Sydney are massive winners, basically got a player they wanted for free despite being willing to give up a first rounder - crazy dollars though and 11 week suspension would annoy...
Frost and Harigan picked up, I would have rolled the dice on Frost but here's hoping he turns out to be a dud now!

Re: PSD
I’ll take a punt and say that none of us on here know Dayle Garlett.
I’ll also say that few, if any, know the inner workings of a modern AFL club.
However:
Two WA based clubs couldn’t find a place for Garlett, even on their Rookie List. Even though they wouldn’t have faced significant homesickness issues and even though some suggested the whole “bad boy” image was designed in the West to scare off the other clubs.
And Essendon, despite it’s rich history with Indigenous players, and despite having the kid train with them in the lead up to today’s announcements, passed on him even though they could have rookied him for virtually no cost.
Sometimes actions, or non actions, really do speak louder than words

Jack Frost
Jack Frost originally played football at Ormond Amateur FC then went to Sandringham dragons was very thin , mobile
skills ok..went Williamstown where he developed some shoulders/weight and performed well at Williamstown.
Think he would be a handy 3rd tall backman & play probably back pocket. Stkilda have a lot of his type hence why they did
pick him..would have thought bulldogs should have rookied him but then they only pick midgets

Re: PSD
Richmond win the environmental award for their recycling. Over the last couple of months they have picked up Troy Chaplin, Chris Knights, Aaron Edwards and now Ricky Petterd, Orren Stephenson and Sam Lonergan.
Pretty funny that the AFL website crashed during the drafts today, too. So much for announcing the picks as they happened and having a live discussion about it all!

Interesting approach by the Tigers
I think Pettard was pbly worth a go and may suit their game style but the others didn't ever look up to it
