If you could get anyone?

Anyone who picks a midfielder might be a little touched in the head. Geelong lost the best mid in the comp and didn't miss a beat, it's key position players that win you games.
If I'm starting a team it's Buddy, if its for our team I'm taking Ben Reid.

And who are the key position players that won Geelong 3 flags?.. Mooney, Pods, Longergan, Taylor, Hawkins all better value than Bartell, Selwood, Ablett, Chapman (who spend lots of time in the middle), Corey, Kelly??... The only one that rates in Scarlett..hAyES wrote:Anyone who picks a midfielder might be a little touched in the head. You seem the one that may be a little touched in the head...
AFL footy is all about the mids these days... The more, the better, and the better the mids, the greater likelyhood for success...
For that reason, I'd pick Dangerfield or Cotchin, as they are both 10+ year 99% certain champions... Cotchin just ahead for mine...

Perhaps your the one who's 'touched in the head'.hAyES wrote:Anyone who picks a midfielder might be a little touched in the head. Geelong lost the best mid in the comp and didn't miss a beat, it's key position players that win you games.

Mids and clearances win most matches. Teams need around 10 - mostly in and under types - who can rotate thru the middle/on the ball.
Also I choose players I like before others.....

He would be my pick TB. He is young, versatile, has a brilliant pair of hands and has got Brownlow medal written all over him.True Believer wrote:Nat Fyfe.

Fair call, but my point was midfielders are easily replaced. It's hard getting a key position player of the Franklin/Reid quality so if I'm starting a team I'm going with those guys every time. I mean if Geelong can lose Ablett and still win the flag then any midfielder is replaceable. If a team goes without one of the guys I mentioned that's a massive blow.

Verdun Howell. I've never seen him play but I've been told he was good. He's not from another club but he would put Zac Dawson into perspective.

Fyfe is good but I would probably go Dangerfield over him as he's probably just ahead of him on out put and is an aggressive ball winner where fyfe is a little more loose.

Dangerfield is a very explosive type and difficult to contain, but I would favour Fyfe in the air and with his ball use. It's a close call though gringogringo wrote:busso mick wrote:He would be my pick TB.
