Disagree. Disappointing return for a number two pick with the potential he had. Was good in 2009. Played the occasional good game otherwise. Heaps of games where he just totally went missing or did one or two things that were enough to feed the 'Kosi's gunna.........' crew.

What position exactly does he play?skeptic wrote:I think ppl are generally quite harsh on kosi
whilst not a superstar by any means, he plays the hardest postion on the ground and does play some pretty good games.
we've more than got our value out of him as a number 2 pick and certainly he has been a hany player over the years.
the problem is he's now at a stage where the gap between his best and worst is far too big and that we're seeing less of his best.
having him on the list as a depth player for a handful of games next year is a good idea. IMO he should have rested more this season and we should have played Wilkes more. Either way he should be transitioning out
Personally I think Wilkes is a clone of Kosi and not much chop.

I still think the body let him down. Not every player gets to play their best. I'm proud to have had the big fella in our colours and has had some brilliant games. If he doesn't play many games we are in a very good place.

Wilkes is very handy against crap opposition. Kosi rarely is against anyone.Bernard Shakey wrote:What position exactly does he play?skeptic wrote:I think ppl are generally quite harsh on kosi

Re: Kosi The Enigma
the way i look at things is this ..
from that number two pick in the 2000 draft we got a player who so far has got 195 game 243 goals - has played in 4 prelim finals winning 2 of them to play in 3 grandfinals and has amassed 33 brownlow votes
to put that into perspective :
1998 number 2 (Justin Longmuir) -139 games - 166 goals - 1 prelim - 0 g/f's - 15 brownlow votes
1999 number 2 (Paul Hasleby) - 208 games - 131 goals - 0 prelims - 0 g/f's - 67 brownlow votes
2001 number 2 (Luke Ball) - 193 games - 83 goals - 5 Prelims - 3 g/f's - 36 brownlow votes
2002 number 2 (Daniel Wells) - 190 games - 116 goals - 1 prelim - 0 g/f - 48 brownlow votes
2003 number 2 (Andrew Walker) - 142 games - 109 goals- 0 prelims - 0 g/f's - 12 brownlow votes
2004 number 2 (Jarryd Roughead) - 159 games - 294 goals - 2 prelims- 2 g/f's - 17 brownlow votes
statistically Kosi has been around the mark with his peers of number 2 picks so in all honesty i dont look at it as a wasted skills more i see it as he has given his all for this club and has done a pretty damn fine job considering the hurdles he has faced ... when he does decide to hang up the boots i for one will be congratulating him on his career not lamenting it

I dont think it matters how he compares to other years number 2 picks. It is how he compares to players in his draft in the top 10 and only Didak could be classed above him. He is clearly the third best player taken in the top 10 that year. And those who say Thompson and Kerr are better well that is obvious but my guess is they werent on anyones list to go top 5 that year or probably even top 10. Kosi was a very good pick that year but his days are just about over if not completely done.

Kosi is the best AFL footy player to emerge from Brocklesby...
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Kosi The Enigma
He got 12 of those Brownlow votes in 4 games about ten years ago. You can make stats stats say whatever you want them to,but in the end they don't say much at all.st_Trav_ofWA wrote:the way i look at things is this ..

Are you trying to say Kosi is as good a player, or thereabouts, as Roughead? Are you having a lend? Are you?

Re: Kosi The Enigma
Kosi's best value now is probably as a kick-behind-the-play follower/second ruck where he can take those pack marks and distribute it downfield. He's still a good kick. However McEvoy is ahead of him and Stanley and Hickey will also be pressing for spots.
I think his time as a key forward is up. Wilkes was already judged ahead of him towards the end of last season and now he has competition from Lee as well.

Re: Kosi The Enigma
So is it official then? Kosi is our new #1 whipping boy? I seemed to miss the memo....
Ever since Gia nearly killed him he wasn't the same. But he has been far from the worst player in the 22 on many occasions. His body has let him down, didn't he grow a heap just after he was recruited? Either way, I think you will find he has only had a couple of full preseasons since he got to us, which would effect his consistency throughout seasons.
I have never understood why he is bagged so regularly, if he was pick 100 we would be saying he has had a decent serviceable career and made the most of his bad luck.
He is a top bloke evidenced by his attitude at training with his mentoring of younger players and his interaction with supporters. Why do we constantly turn on our own its depressing...

Don't worry, 2012 will probably be his last. No one is saying that he has been great but some are just looking on the positive side of things and bringing some balance into it; that's all.
To say that he hasn't lived up to his potential or expectations is non nonsensical because they are supporters expectations and not his or the clubs.
