Re: Roberton under Free Agency?
I don't see how you got there.dragit wrote:With that logic we wouldn't need to draft anyone…
Most players we draft aren't being asked to go out round one of their first year and play on the best players in the land. If the guys in charge don't think there's anyone out there capable of taking on Franklin, Petrie and Jack Riewoldt, I'm happy to concede they're probably right. There's no point in wasting time and money on somebody who can't play. We've got FB options.

Re: Saints Sign Roberton
Maybe replace Winmar (using the last out-first in principle), similar builds and game styleSainterK wrote:To replace Gram?
Re: Saints Sign Roberton
Great signing only 21 already has 31 games to his name. Adds to the half back role with the departures of Goddard, raph, gram, and winmar.

If I had to choose a spot between Winmar and Roberton, I would definitely choose Roberton, however it is disappointing that we have yet to fill that FB role.

Re: Saints Sign Roberton
Even though Saints have quite a few who can play the HBF role - considering the exodus of HBF types in Goddard, Gram, Cripps, Clarke & Winmar - and that Roberton is 21, I'm ok with the signing.....

Re: Saints Sign Roberton
good get by the club the kid can play .... as for all the sooking about not getting a fullback i would rather we go without a fullback this season and use a patched up defensive structure and get a top notch one next season rather than pick a below average fullback just for the sake of getting one ... its a bit like GT not wanting to waste $ on a dud ruckman for the sake of getting a ruckman

AW reported we had signed Robertson.
Apart from his weird surname, he sounds much better than Winmar (which I guess wouldn't take much!).

At the risk of indulging in a bit of schadenfreude, I'm with you Doc. For the record, I reckon he can play and will be an asset.Dr Spaceman wrote:Just good to get a player from that club; a player that they wanted to keep; who cost us nothing and they got nothing for.

wasnt in East Perth's Bests ... he played 10 games of AFL last season and only 9 in the WAFL in two of those games (round 2 and round 3) he was near on BOG gathering over 20 disposals and taking 26 marks across the two games
