Where is our future tall back?
Everyone appart from saints officals realise that we have NO full back and now future full back. Where to from now? Is there still a potential star full back avaliable to be picked up in the Rookie draft or the preseaon draft?
Re: Where is our future tall back?
Obviously they'll put all their eggs in one basket again by trading our first 2 round picks for a player playing in the WAFL reserves.

does seem strange, surprised we didn't try grab a FB from one of the state leagues... perhaps thats our plan in the pre-season draft!

I wouldn't worry, apparently Kosi can play there (according to Watters).....

We have no picks left. We won't be participating in the PSD.paddy wrote:does seem strange, surprised we didn't try grab a FB from one of the state leagues... perhaps thats our plan in the pre-season draft!
Also don't think we have any picks left in the rookie draft unless we a delist another rookie (I may be wrong..).

They will groom Spencer White into a future defender but as for next year I dunno?? Pre season draft maybe we might pick someone up ready to go..

Re: Where is our future tall back?
Spenser and Lee are Kosi and Roo for the future not sure if Rhys or Hickey could put an extra long arm in for spoiling. Lever had better be on some steroids.
Just watched wrights highlights, forgot him but saw that before and thought he looked good, just a forgettable name I guess. I hope we rookie Colquhoun if he didn't get picked up, he has some massive upside.

Re: Where is our future tall back?
I think the club might have some longer term plans on this. Brown & Frawley have already been mentioned in this thread. They might be going to Make Do in 2013 and then strike at the end of next year !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Re: Where is our future tall back?
We already have plenty of cap space and we'll probably have Lenny, Kosi and Milne finish next year. I suspect we'll throw 500k at Mitch Brown.
Blake, Simpkin, Fisher, Dempster and Gwilt will once again be our tall defenders next year.

Re: Where is our future tall back?
Still should rookie a young state league FB IMO. Give them a year to prove themselves

Or perhaps throw it at a really good full back.mad saint guy wrote:We already have plenty of cap space and we'll probably have Lenny, Kosi and Milne finish next year. I suspect we'll throw 500k at Mitch Brown.

Re: Where is our future tall back?
So do we need to delist anyone to pick up a rookie or psd pick though? Personally think we are done for the year...

Not that impressed that we enter a second season without one.
I realise this is a development phase, but wouldn't it do well for kids to develop in a side that is properly structured?
Can't get my head around this one.

Re: Where is our future tall back?
Unless they delist a player and pick a state league player it looks like Rhys Stanley will be our Full back next year...?
SAINTS another day older another day closer to the Holy Grail!
Re: Where is our future tall back?
The OP set the tone for this thread "everyone bar saints officals knows.." OK then Einstein thanks for pointing that out. Gee I hope those officials read SS ASAP and realise the error of their ways
Newsflash. Tony Elshaug and his team watch a zillion hours of junior footy every year. Noone on this Forum does so therefore this whole air of "OMG cant they see what we see? " is just ludicrous
I dont care how many mates you have playing TAC Cup.or how many kids you've coached at school...you know bugger all in the scheme of this...OK?

Re: Where is our future tall back?
I guess St Kilda went into the draft thinking, nah, stuff it, even though we need a full back we wont recruit one. Get a grip peeps, just a reminder that Roo and Koz were not forwards when they came to us. Now take a chill pill. Oh, and we can delist more players to free up the list.

Re: Where is our future tall back?
Two of the best fullbacks we've ever had came to us as forwards, and one won a Brownlow at fullback. Anyone heard of Verdun Howell or Bob Murray?SainterK wrote:Not that impressed that we enter a second season without one.

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
Re: Where is our future tall back?
I'm still dirty that he didn't know Josh Saunders first name. Surely after his zillion hours of watching he'd know this?!
I think we outsmarted ourselves and who in their right mind would see so many KPPs go all in a row like that. I believe we rated them pretty equally and assumed there'd be one or two there in the 40's.
By taking so long, I'd say Saunders and Murdoch weren't our first choices but looking into them both they seem solid picks which not considering our needs. I still think we were heavily divided with Garlett especially late.
Clurey wasn't going ro be our FB but he is a bloody good choice. We obviously don't rate state league FBs as high as whats on our list.
