I have no idea about the future of these players but if we got exactly those guys I doubt any of them would improve our list next year. We need Lee and Hickey to have pretty good years and our second to fourth year players to improve out of site for us to actually improve next year IMO.

True lee and hickey are the two that you would think could cause a instant impact with there experience , but just maybe we might get 10% improvement with most guys getting more familiar with game plan ?

There is a gun big guy from WA but a forward and I have noticed he has drifted in a few and maybe around at our picks and that Marco Papparone. He looked great and was talked about highly so not sure what happened. We might be best to get a tall forward and play them as a FB -there seem to be a better crop this year.

Everyone seems to have him pegged as an appalling kick... No thanks if true.

Yeah, he's the one I'm thinking of/wanting to draft. Second chance and as ready as they come, perfect for pick 77 IMO.

Both he and Hardy look worth a serious look. People seem set on Hartigan, but I can't get over Lee giving him a pantsing in the Foxtel Cup, and Lee's hardly a beast...

I have heard on here that Eddy and Mini were very ordinary AFL footballers and they were a bounce away from winning a GF. If he reaches Milara or Saads standard this year then he still is an ordinary footballer. I am hoping those 2 show natural improvement next season. Maybe TDL will too.

That is a bit harsh. While you want to see more progress, I wouldn't exactly call Saad's performance this year ordinary by any stretch.

The premiership FB is about 193, the premiership CHB is about 193, the runner up FB is about 193, the runner up CHB is well under 193. All three of the FBs selected to the AA team are 193 or shorter. So I'd say 193 is plenty big enough for anything we'd actually want them to do.

Any KPD we draft is likely a year or two away at least. We're more likely to see Mitch Brown or James Frawley at FB in 2014 than any KPD we take at the draft. So we go to the draft and pick players who can play long term regardless of size or position. You never know where these guys are going to end up playing. There are plenty of forwards taken as defenders and vice versa.

Meanwhile Andrew Demetriou laments the lack of big marks inside 50.
He is determined to change the interpretation of the rules to remedy this

Penalising blocking from the contest and blocking to prevent run and leap are to be rigourously enforced.
Blokes like Sam Fisher prevent taller opponents from marking by engaging bustling before the ball arrives.
Some call it competing for position but we all know it is a tactic to prevent the ball being marked by either forward or defender.
We can only expect that bustling short defenders will more and more be penalised.

This means defenders will have to compete with tall forwards with height.
If your defenders don't have the height to punch the ball away they could be Demetrioued out of the game just like ruckman who can't jump.

St Kilda knows that Mc Evoy, who can't jump, has a limited shelf life, if he hasn't already passed his use by date.

I expect Sydney not to use their 2 last live picks in the draft.
That then gives them 2 less senior players than most other clubs but 2 players salaries in addition to their "cost of living bonus".
They then buy players they really want rather than keeping their worst 2 list cloggers.

St Kilda met this year's salary cap by going one player short, they may be planning the same approach and thus not use pick 77.

(Well actually advance Dunnell's rookie upgrade to 77 and not use 95).

Smith, Garlett and Membrey would be pretty handy recruits if available. Despite s*** tats Membrey is very Jack Darling like and looks natural when he plays. Could be a bit of a junior Aaron Hamill with the right coach. I still hope we look at Colquhoun and Ashby if available. Neither flashy just good old fashioned footy players with good touch and ball finding ability.

This is one player I have some knowledge on. I wouldnt pick him because I dont think he is good enough. Nothing to do with his old man at all. The funny thing is people say Temay may go around pick 40 or so and the B&F winner at Dragons, Michael Barnes, wont go at all. If I was a recruiter and you had to pick one I would pick Barnes every time.

Won't happen.

After being in danger of breaching their "Tom Cap" a year ago, the Saints took the drastic step of letting Lynch and Walsh go, thus freeing up valuable Tom space.

However having now picked up Lee and Hickey in the last month, the club is once again flying close to the wind.

If they were to select Temay they risk going over the "Tom Cap" and, in doing so, risk the possibility of severe fines from the AFL.
