Who should take Trevor Barker's old number?
Well we've had Craig Devenport, Frankie Peckett and Stalker Gram as the past owners.
Who now will take on the famous number 1 guernsey??
My vote is Rhys Stanley. He's our future megastar forward/ruckman IMO. The only real young player that has the current hallmarks of being a champion.

Don't forget Stephen Newport also wore it.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

The romantic in me says that we should give it to someone that we Draft from Sandringham Dragons. I wonder if there are any such kids on our radar? !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: Who should take Trevor Barker's old number?
Its usually reserved for a player that followed the saints before being drafted.

It should be preserved for someone worthy, which I don't beileve any one requiring number promotion is quite there yet.
Re: Who should take Trevor Barker's old number?
It should be given out to anyone. Its a number justn like 24 or 35.

Do you really think he wants an upgrade from #2 to #1? I think he's happy with what he's got.Cairnsman wrote:Pwoit wrote:Its usually reserved for a player that followed the saints before being drafted.

Pwoit said it was reserved for a player that followed the Saints before being drafted. Isn't that Sippo?
Anyway it sounds like you have spoken to him about the subject so I'm sorry for being so silly.

No one, retire it permanently.

Tommy Curren for the No 1
Would like to see Tom Lee get Gehrig's old number
The next key defender we draft (Sandy's Xavier Richards wouldn't hurt) = No 8
18 for Dunell, and 35 for Vlastuin if we're lucky enough for him to slip to us

don't like the idea of retiring a number like they do in basketball. In footy we like to keep the spirit of the number alive.

I agree with you in principle, but in Barks case there are exceptional circumstances. His incredible loyalty, sacrifices both physical and financial and his tragic premature death. Barks is the spirit of St.Kilda. That's why I'd make an exception in this case.hungry for a premiership wrote:White Winmar wrote:No one, retire it permanently.

Yeah maybe if it was done the year after he died but not now after almost 20 years it would be silly to retire itWhite Winmar wrote:I agree with you in principle, but in Barks case there are exceptional circumstances. I wonder if Jay lever would be offered it in our 140th year as a touch of history for a non relative-- or could he be a relative?
