Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
According to Liam Pickering (Mitch's Manager) on TWR.
West Coast don't think it's fair according to Pickers, although he added that personally he thinks it's fair.
I think this is the first offical confirmation of what we've offered?

That's a very high price to pay for Brown
I love this club
Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
I too think it's too much, but it's probably what it's going to take...Anymore than that and I think we've been screwed.

Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
Way overs for an injury prone back-up defender BUT it is either that or Cripps walks for nothing it seems
I think I would prefer to keep pick 25 and try to sign Cripps on a one year deal then next year do a straight swap for Brown.
In the meantime take a punt on another full back type from one of the state leagues using a later pick

We need a backman 25+ Cripps who we are going to lose anyway seems fair.
Lance or James??

Hooker is not as good as Brown, we will lose Cripps for nothing so basically it is 25 for Brown.
Not overs at all.

And the thing is that it would probably take another sweetener too. Like swapping picks 47 & 62!

Why are they so intent on Brown - anyone know?

Saints or Eagles?True Believer wrote:Why are they so intent on Brown - anyone know?
Saints- Good size, good age, already developed, quite talented. Will come in and play for the next 8 years hopefully.
Eagles - He is their ONLY suitable replacement for Glass, McKenzie and Schoefield. If you take Brown out of their list, and one of those defenders goes down next year, they're completely shot. And they think they're right in the premiership race.

Don't underestimate how highly his brother Nathan rates Watters and Maxie Hudghton ... I reckon they see Brown as the perfect ready-made player who can improve with some more regular game time and coaching. Has more genuine upside that just about anyone available IMO.True Believer wrote:Why are they so intent on Brown - anyone know?

Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
Cripps cost us pick 24 in the draft and what 3 years of development? Naive to think all we are giving up is 25.
We are giving up a lot more than that. It is overs and we should place a line in the sand, move on and get him for nothing next year

Hooker's been less injury prone. We could get Hooker for pick 46 or 47 I would've thought!

Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
From reliable source (as reliable as anything I guess) - Saints and WCE reach agreement on Brown, waiting on agreement from third party(believed to be Essendon).
From about 5 minutes ago. Same source broke the Lee/Hickey trades hours before they were official.
May be speculation and I will believe it when it is official, however the deal is definately in play.

Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
And WC have put in 6 years of development for a pick #16. As well as looked after him through a rather injury riddled career.MC Gusto wrote:Cripps cost us pick 24 in the draft and what 3 years of development? Naive to think all we are giving up is 25.

Not to mention he's the obvious replacement for Glass.
Both players want out. The deal should be done. We pay a bit extra cos big, ready to go KPB's are few and far between.
Re: Saints offer Pick #25 and Cripps for Brown
Cripps is now worth zero to us. He will never play for St Kilda again. Naive to think we can get more than a very late pick for him.MC Gusto wrote:Cripps cost us pick 24 in the draft and what 3 years of development? Naive to think all we are giving up is 25.

And as some have pointed out - there's no point getting someone at the right price .... just because it's the right price.... if we don't need them.
