Cripps and P.26 for Brown?

Haha! Also I'm kind of warming to the idea of our picks 25 & 26 becoming 24 & 25 should the AFL penalise the Crows for this Kurt Tippett saga

Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Personally I find my idea preferable to letting him walk and WCE getting him for free, or getting a pick we won't use either way we get nothing
at least my way the opposition don't get what they want either... further to that opposition clubs will stop with the philosophy don't trade with the Saints their players will walk anyway

They won't get what they want though, Fremantle would take him for loose change before West Coast gets their pick.skeptic wrote:Personally I find my idea preferable to letting him walk and WCE getting him for free, or getting a pick we won't use either way we get nothing

We also wouldn't be stuck with someone that doesn't want to be there...not sure he'd receive a lot of respect from his team mates either!
Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Morton's fate could hinge on West Coast's bid to poach homesick St Kilda defender Jamie Cripps.
West Coast wants Cripps, but is unwilling to part with key defender Mitch Brown in a trade for the young flanker.
Speculation was mounting last night that Essendon could be involved as part of a three-way trade.
In that scenario, the Bombers would send backman Cale Hooker to the Saints, who are in need of defensive reinforcement.

and....
GWS and Port Adelaide had been linked but neither has been in recent contact with Hawthorn about a trade. St Kilda, looking for a key defender, has already passed on Gilham.

Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Just looked at Hooker's stats.
He's 24 and 196cm so a good height for us.
Has played 66 games basically over 4 seasons (1st game round 21 in 2008).
So some potential I guess. Not overly exciting though but we are desperate for a defender.

guess we have two whole days to see what happens
Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Broughton just went to GC for pick 37...
This leaves Fremantle with two picks to select Cripps in the draft before WCE's 41.

Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Rumours are the Hooker thing might be along the lines of Hooker & Cripps to West Coast, Brown to St Kilda and Pick 26 to Essendon & Essendon using pick 26 to get Jacobs from Port.

Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Probably not any inside source, but something like this:
Hooker & Cripps to West Coast, Brown to St Kilda and Pick 26 to Essendon.
seems most logical right now.... I would hope involving WC pick 41 also coming back to saints
Essendon probably wont deal Hooker at less than 26... but WC cant possibly get Hooker+Cripps for Brown... they would have to also pay with 41....

If we can't get Brown would you accept West Coast's picks 41 and 44 for Cripps and say pick 47 or 77 given that we may get nothing.
Then of course we get revenge next year when we steal Brown form West Coast.

I still think we should get something for Cripps--in the long run, it is best to get something for him, then nothing.

Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
I reckon west coast would prefer pick 26 and a chance at picking cripps up for nothing rather than giving it to essendon and them receiving hooker . If they're not gonna let brown go for a straight swap for that pick he won't be going anywhere you d reckon.SuperDuper wrote:Probably not any inside source, but something like this:

Re: Cripps and P.26 for Brown?
Form the fact that Bains has a statement on the club website stating that things are positive on Brown, I reckon that mean we've got him.
Smacks of our guys having to come out and say " we respect WCE, nothing will happen on Brown without them drviving it as he's contracted". As I said earlier, bluster from WCE so they don't appear publicly as pushovers if a contracted player suddenly decides he wants out.
Reckon we'll see Cripps & 26 for Brown and 41
And I also reckon we'll see Jones go to Freo for Roberton, possibly with picks swapped as well.
Could handle a 6'3" running half-back with good skills on both sides, suits the Pelican's biggest likes too (kicking andf height).
Whispers of Raph to Port as well.

Maybe like this
Saints Receive: Brown.
Saints Lose: Cripps & 47
WCE Receive: Cripps, Hooker & 47
WCE Lose: Brown & 44
Bombers Receive: 44
Bombers Lose: Hooker
Also, love the idea of Jones for Roberton!
And I don't care where Raph goes!
