Hooker would be a good outcome IMO
Don't know why it is a three way trade though.
We just get a pick for cripps then trade a pick (hopefully the same pick) for hooker

He is listed as 196 and 97 kg- that makes him big enough for the key forwards - I haven't seen him play though

Surely theres a way to get Ray to Dees, then Morton and Cripps to Eagles netting us Brown. Then again, Hooker seems an ok fit considering I have hardly seen him play - I dare say he is our plan b...

West Coast wants Cripps, but is unwilling to part with key defender Mitch Brown in a trade for the young flanker.

Speculation was mounting last night that Essendon could be involved as part of a three-way trade.

In that scenario, the Bombers would send backman Cale Hooker to the Saints, who are in need of defensive reinforcement.

GWS and Port Adelaide had been linked but neither has been in recent contact with Hawthorn about a trade. St Kilda, looking for a key defender, has already passed on Gilham.

I don't think Hooker is as bad as some people say he is, however he is not really the monster back we need. He can play well on the running types, but I question whether he is capable on the strong big bodied forwards (which is obviously what we need).
Zac has him covered comfortably

On what I saw hooker usually takes the big bodied forward

Hooker has done well on Roo in the past.
Well except this year when Roo tore him apart but he wasn't on his own in that game.

Was Hooker the one chasing Buddy when he kicked those miracle goals?

Cripps + pick 47 from Saints to WCE
Pick 44 from WCE to Essendon
Hooker from Essendon + pick 41 from WCE to Saints

This I think looks ok. Fair for all concerned.

What would be even better is if we could deal with each club directly.

Cripps + 47 to WCE for 41 + 44
46 to Essendon for Hooker.

Leaves us with 4 second rounders, 25, 26, 41 & 44!

Pretty sure, west coast won't be giving us their first 2 picks in the draft, for a guy they will take at pick 135.

They're only giving us pick #41 in this situation, and downgrading #44 by 3 spots. Seems very reasonable.

The Eagles would probably laugh if they did. He's not exactly Chris Judd, or even Luke Ball for that matter.

WEll it now looks like thingw are faling a little more our way.

WCE are into Cripps, but want him for a steal. Martin to Brisbane from Melbourne seems to have collapsed, and Pedersen to Melb has also gone down the gurgler.

apparently WCE are also interested in Morton from Melb. And Essendon are sniffing around with Hooker.

I'll be shocked if the Pelican can't manouvere that into a deal for Brown.

If he can't then I say we grab Martin from Melb and make him a permanent FB.

Not in his 2nd scenario

Cripps + 47 to WCE for 41 + 44

Hooker has the size but none of the ability & very slow. There's a reason Essendon & Essendon supporters are happy to let him go.

Or Pederson for that matter! He has the size, & is very agile!

He's also only 20 yo & has shown a lot of promise.

Who know's what he could do at home near his family!

But hey, you've obviously got some contacts at West Coast!

Not in his 2nd scenario

Cripps + 47 to WCE for 41 + 44[/quote]

First of all, you quoted me with something you said, not me.

Second of all, I WAS talking about his second scenario.

Saints gain: 41 44
Saints lose: Cripps 47

So clearly, they're only giving us one pick (#41) for Cripps, plus downgrading #44 to pick #47 as a slight sweetener. Not sure how you don't see that.

You said that they 'won't be giving us their first 2 picks in the draft', whilst essentially they would be doing that under this scenario, they're only losing #41 and droping #44 back 3 spots. So basically just giving #41 for Cripps.

Maybe the 3-way deal they're talking about is Hooker going the other way, not to us.

Something like our pick 47 to Essendon, Brown to Saints, Hooker + Cripps to WCE?

Don't know what Morton from Melbourne is worth.

What about a 3-way deal with the Dees? A pick from us to them, Cripps & MOrton to WCE, Brown to us?

Morton is worth around pick 143. He is terrible! I have enough Melbourne supporting mates that volunteer this information freely.

Cripps is a very good player and is the most advanced of our kids, some people have no idea. I think people are wounded that he wants out. He will go well in the next few years at west coast. I wonder if all the bagging he got on SS helped him decide to get out. A few ran a campaign because they decided he dogged a contest in one of his first few games. He is a bargain at a pick in the 40s and has shown more than a guy we gave 13 for and more than probably Jack Watts at the same stage in his career. I don't understand why he's so unpopular.

I'm with you Gringo. Will be sad to see Cripps go. Further along than most our youngsters and had shown a bit.

If he read comments on here and decided to leave then I hope the door doesn't hit him too hard on the way out!

Look I want to keep him but he doesn't want to stay so now it's about getting the best deal for the club.
