Great rule change for Roo
This will be a great rule change for Rooey if it is enforced
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx
You can guarantee it will be enforced for at least 6-8 weeks so look forward to it!

This is a load of crap!!!
Haven't the people who say these things and write these articles ever played footy. A backman is blocked countless times a game. Coaches devise strategies to block certain defenders to isolate forwards. And last time I checked this was the AFL and not Netball.

Funny that he gets the most frees of any forward just about every year.

If anything I would have thought defenders were already limited in terms of what they're allowed to do vs any other player on the ground.

Re: Great rule change for Roo
Very unbiased Roo rarely if ever plays from behind jumps early marks high. Defenders just either run in his path, tunnel him or chop his arms and head.plugger66 wrote:SainterK wrote:He used to, I think Buddy does now?

Re: Great rule change for Roo
Actually it should probably help our small backline. It will allow them to get a run and jump at taller opposition forwards without a block being put on them. Assuming the rule is interpreted both ways of course.

Where was Roo on the overall list?
Curious...
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Thanks HSV, I wasn't joking...I was actually trying to be factual.HSVKing wrote:Riewoldt - 19 Matches - 33 Free kicks @ 1.7plugger66 wrote:SainterK wrote:He used to, I think Buddy does now?

Buddy gets his fair share, but gives a way a ridiculous amount so people think he is hard done by.

Re: Great rule change for Roo
Buddy does a lot more undisciplined things and tries to take the game on a lot more often so will always give away more frees, it is only recently that he has started to be awarded frees, still deserves more than he gets.
Riewoldt has always been a very clean and disciplined player, very rarely gives away free kicks but only gets 1 out of every 3 free kicks that are there... I simply think it's a case of the umpires only paying the arm slaps if they are incredibly obvious, even though a slight nudge might be the difference between him taking a mark or not I just don't think the umpires can be seen to give him 5+ free kicks a game.
