Raph's time at the saints is probably up but some people forget his good games like the first two finals of 09. His prelim was pretty good and his drive helped us get out of jail and into the GF.

Re: Raph de-listed??
Funny how some people like to bang on about Raph costing us the 09 GF by getting run down from behind.
Wasn't that very early on in the first quarter?
Didn't we hit the lead after that?
Didn't we lead for most of the game until well into the final quarter?
Never mind

It still didn't when it did and somehow Sam Fisher gets blamed for it despite Raph Clarke getting rundown from behind.SaintPav wrote:Good point.Dr Spaceman wrote:Funny how some people like to bang on about Raph costing us the 09 GF by getting run down from behind.

Re: Raph de-listed??
The sad thing is not one of the other 17 clubs were prepared to offer Raph 50 cents a year.
They did not want him to clog a place on their list.
Given he could be taken without having to give up a draft pick his chances of finding another club during the draft and uncontracted player free agency period are now zero.
Raph's only hope is St Kilda being willing to hang on to him as backup, but Watters is more likely prepared to give a young kid a place on the list ahead of Raph.

+1 Well said!gringo wrote:i hate disrespect towards any of our players and he was someone who wore our colours with pride. His body let him down early and eventually he was pushed out by youth but doesn't detract from the valuable performances he gave for us. Got us up against the Bulldogs in the finals. Will sadly be remembered for a run down in a GF but better than given credit for. Thanks Raph in what ever the future holds. Glad you played for the Saints. Respect.

I get it that some supporters like some players more than other players.
I get it that some supporters rate some players higher than other players.
But I'll never get supporters who express pure joy at the thought of one of our player's career coming to an end

They also forget the Milne dribble from 45 out that fell 10m short... Or the Schnider gimme shots that he sprayed ... Or the Fact Harry Taylor owned Roo for the entire G/F .... The reason we lost that game is that players whose job was to kick goals didn't.....
I am sad to see Raph go....and it really p****s me off that there are some on here that only see his clangers and not the majority of good things that he did....e.g. the 2009 prelim....would not have made the GF without his contribution....
Extra! Extra! Read all about it......no I don't want to read about it anymore!!!

They also seem to forget that he was instrumental for us the week before taking many last line marks against the doggies in the PF. They all heap glory on Roo for winning the game with his goals but Raph was probably more important for us in the backline that night. Actually had him as our best. Cops too much flack!

Plus, i thought STK had a 'no-cretin' policy... thereby eliminating the chance of a trade for a current Carlton footballer. He is going and thank christ.
He makes consistent mistakes that school footballers would not make and has the awareness of a 5 year old playing little league just wanting the football because he/she can.
Not good enough and has been on the list for 4 years too long @ 250k = give me the money back

Posters have responded to you with examples of when Raph did play some decent games and helped his team get over the line in three big finals. The 2009 Prelim is one example. Not to mention the guts Raph showed time and again putting his head over the ball and backing into packs.
All you have responded is with your negative, vitriolic school boy subjective crap that tells us nothing.
He has done more than most people will ever do on a football field and given his medical condition, that is a fair effort.
Oh, and he’s a much better bloke than you will ever hope to be.
Like I said before, pull your head in. Now have a nice day.

Consistent mistakes???
Define that to me and back it up.
Have a look at the game VS North. He got run down sure but more than anyone is was one of the few that presented consistently, contest after contest.
I think where you go wrong Redeemer is that you're a highlights reel supporter.
I bet your one of the supporters that watched that game and marvelled at Adam Schenieder's great first 1/4 and was oblivious to the fact that he barely touched it for the last 3.
Yet Raph is hung out to dry for being run down even though he had a much more positive impact than Adam
