Re: Rumour Thread
Really?
Some people annointed him the next captain.
Underated still?
Won two B&F's in the last 5 years.
It's not like he has been down on form either, and has always signed with the Saints regardless of clubs sniffing around.
If you're going to trade someone out from the backline, it's not Fish IMO.

Re: Rumour Thread
Geez ..... pick 2.
I reckon I'd take it. We're obviously planning for the future (we saw McIntosh and Rivers picked up for pretty much nothing, when they're positions were our 2 biggest weaknesses) so pick 2 will probably give us more than Sam will going forward. If their opening offer is Pick 2, I'd try and work in one of their promising kids too.

Re: Rumour Thread
i dont think people realise that a trade has to be attractive to both parties.
to get something decent you need to give up something decent.
Sure we could trade out the players we dont want/need, but we would get squat for them...
either way, there is no way this is possible, because he is far too old for pick 2, perhaps 2 years ago, but not now.

No to trading Fisher from me. Doubt that rumour would be true, couldn't GWS get more for DP2 ? In fact a poster on BF says GWS may offer DP 2 + 3 for Fisher, how unlikely is that ?

Very unlikely...On the off chance that they would be that stupid would we be negligent in turning it down??

One of the most way out rumours I've ever heard - GWS would offer 2 + 3. For both, yes they would be negligent to refuse I suppose.....Buckets wrote:MCG-Unit wrote:sax wrote:Jay Clark from the Herald Sun dropped a rumour that GWS want Sam Fisher & are willing to give pick 2 for him. Thoughts?

Still don't like the idea of trading out champion long term players, who are the soul of the footy club.

Re: Rumour Thread
Be interesting to see what unfolds now. WCE are reported to be meeting with Brown tomorrow to discuss a contract extension, but it won't get anywhere near the contract offer from the Saints. Be interesting to see if they develop a renewed interest in moving him on if it becomes apparenet he won't sign on past next year. That puts them in th position of getting screwed in any deal at the end of next season once he's out of contract.....watch this space.

Re: Rumour Thread
Gilham is on the cards according to the SuperFooty trade chat....
Also, RE Hickey, does anyone know what picks Nth and Ess might throw at GCS for Hickey. If they are the other two interested clubs, it might give us an idea as to what we will have to give up for him.

nth - 14, 35, 36, 54
ess - 10, 32, 48, 51
so, i'd say we may have to give them 24, as essendon has us pipped with their vote in the 30's...
is this too high a price for Hickey?

Essendon have used pick 10 with their father - son.paddy wrote:nth - 14, 35, 36, 54

Re: Rumour Thread
24 for Hickey and Toy is a steal for us but GC arent really going to use late picks so it could get the job done, I agree 24 is paying overs for Hickey alone...paddy wrote:nth - 14, 35, 36, 54

Jeez if we got 2 & 3 offered you would have to take it. I love Chips but I'd assist him with his packing... Why don't we just rip the heart out of the club and go Fish/Dal for 2, 3, 12 & 13! Imagine Stringer, Grundy, Toumpas and Menzel... lol time for bed I'm getting delerious...

Re: Rumour Thread
Serious? He'll be 31 halfway through next season and only has a couple of years left. Pick 2 could get us one of any number of likely guns. There's no way GWS would do it, but if they did we would have to take it.Teflon wrote:2+3 and yeah Fish is possible

Re: Rumour Thread
Wouldn't want to lose Fish but we would have to consider it for a pick as low as 2!
Not fussed about Hickey, Essendons interest must be bulls*** though!
Still have hope that a Cripps Brown deal will be done!

Re: Rumour Thread
Not if we're smart. Essendon don't have pick 10, that's gone for FS pick.paddy wrote:nth - 14, 35, 36, 54

If we're smart, we'll swap picks with GC, give them 24 & 34 for HIckey, 25 , and 44.
GC can't use later picks as they have to trim their list so it's about getting a couple of picks as low as possible. They may even be looking to package up the mid 50's pick they got from Geelong in the Caddy deal.
If Cripps is going to WCE for Stevens, then we send him with picks 43, 44 and get Stevens and 38. We end up with 13 (BJ compo), 25, 38, 53

Bloke at my work reckons Cripps will walk for a pick in the 50s. This bloke is a dogs supporter and reckons Stevens is now a gun now that he has picked the Dogs. I hope for our sake my mate is delusional
