GWS prepared to part with four of first five picks...

Would it be worth it to get say, Brodie Grundy? At 202cm and 100kgs already, angry and good below his knees....

They would only want good players for those picks and doubt a ruck would be as pressing with out dal Santo there under him. Grundy isn't my first choice but he will be good longer term. Toumpas maybe a little more palatable.

Says it all doesn't it - no one rates the draft this year ! I hope GWS don't end chasing Brown as well we will be screwed!

They have to get some bigger bodies. You can stockpile the best talent in the land but they're just boys. After the BJ experience, I'd be muh more willing to trade out talent on the cusp of free agency for draft picks.WinnersOnly wrote:Says it all doesn't it - no one rates the draft this year ! Our system is just about to get very American where loyalty is a rarity.

Kosi has a big body... and he is contacted... our WC friends can explain what it takes to pry a contracted player away...

How about...
I wouldn't mind using the likes of Gilbert, Jones, and Schneider and our compensation pick in trading a big pick over. We can then use said pick for trading a fullback over to us, for example Frawley. Gilbert and Gwilt are similar really, so we can afford to lose one, with Saad and Milera coming up, we can afford to lose Schneider, as much as I like him!
Plus we can throw Clarke in if they want another mature body... Plus it frees up some space for us to elevate Curren, Dunell and Ferguson.
We get a good fullback for the high draft pick and swap over Cripps for Koby Stevens, plus the Ray for Stefan Martin deal works out and we won't be looking too bad!
And we could then afford to wrap Stanley in cotton wool for a little longer with Riewoldt, Kozzie, Lee, Wilkes and Martin around...

Re: GWS prepared to part with four of first five picks...
He didn't want to go to GWS. At least, scuttlebutt is that they presented a bigger offer than Essendon but he didn't want to go up there. So trading him would have run into the same issue.ausfatcat wrote:I bet we could have got one of those for Goddard if we traded him.

I think to avoid being shafted with Dal Santo, we should either extend his contract this trade period or trade him. The last thing we want is him going via free agency too for probably and an end of 1st round pick, or even mid-first round instead of a potential top 3 pick from GWS now.

Surely he's worth picks 1, 2 and 3?fugazi wrote:Gilbert for pick #3 ?

We definitely should have a go. Imagine if we could get one of the top three players, and our original pick 12 back. We would have 3, 12, 13, 25, about 37 and 47. We should do really well.
