Well I think I could find a 1000 posts on here just in the last year or two disagreeing with you. Players can love the club one minute but love money the next. Pretty sure Gary Ablett loved Geelong a lot more than Dal loved the Saints and that is because he followed them all his life. I think Dal will stay but it will get down to how much love he has outside the Saints.
I heard Melbourne are set to give North a second round pick for Pederson… makes me wonder whether we would be better with Pederson than Martin? Why are Melbourne getting rid of Martin? Pederson seems like more of a key position player, Martin seems more a Ruck/Utility if there is such a thing?

We'll limp along until the 19th, everyone will then know how the AFL compo farce panned out....... and then BANG.......
The trades will restart....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

You can also recruit mature age in the draft. It is not just for kids. For example who are the best Full backs in the WAFL, SANFL, VFL etc...
Remember Barlow and Pods......and we gained Zac as a rookie.
The Cats plucked Taylor after their CHB went down with a permanent injury.
So there will be options in the National and Rookie drafts that could play next year..
Khan Haratuku is in it. Could he play as a monster FB?

So what happens when we line up against an opponent who doesn't have a Gorilla on the field? Does our Monster have to go back to Sandy?
With all this talk about 3 year contracts and giving up Draft Picks I hope whoever we get is someone who we name 22 games a year (plus finals )
Not just someone we dust off as required.
Generally your full back should be able to move as well as out muscle. Zac Dawson was great with quick mobile forwards but got pushed off too easily. The good ones can play on any forward but there aren't too many of them. Brown could play as the muscle man back but might need to be a chop out back when playing on the smaller forward lines.

You play him anyway, as basically all the better teams a have a big forward or two.
Swans now have Tippet, as well as Reid and Goodes
Hawks have Roughead and Buddy as well as Hale
Weagles have a fleet
Pies have Cloke and Lynch
Cats have Hawkins, Pods and Vardy....

Have to agree with you Doc. Why all this desperation to find a so-called "gorilla"? How about someone who can just play the game. Look at Matt Scarlett, Brian Lake etc. Hardly gorillas themselves, who have consistently beaten the best. Josh Gibson and Glenn Archer also come to mind. Archer was only a Collingwood six footer, yet took on and beat the best opposition forwards, regardless of their size. Don't give away pick 13 for some overrated hack, just because of his physical dimensions.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Well they can have Jacobs then, he's not the type of player we need. Then looking at the Hickey scenario and not including 1st rounders, we have picks 24 and 34, North have 35 and will likely get 36 off Geelong for McIntosh. We are in a very good position to get Hickey, who by the way has nominated us as his club of choice so not only do we have the better draft picks but we've also got that in our favour. We'll get the Hickey trade done IMO.

In a way, it's probably the same reason I think we will get Koby Stevens! The "I want to go home" factor, combined with the perfect trade option.
We do really need to get the Hickey deal done sooner rather than later.

You completely missed the point of what I wrote.
If Stevens brings potential to the table and may develop into a top liner sure go ahead and do it.
But from what I have seen of Stevens he is a poor version of Armo. His disposal is extremely poor, he is not a great accumulator of possessions and he is not a line breaker.
He is one of those players that do a little bit of everything but none of them particularly well.
.
how many times have you really seen Stevens though ?? Fact is he will more than likely be a straight swap for Cripps - Koby is as good as Cripps is right now potentially Cripps will be the better player in the long run but the fact is he wants out .. It's a case of getting the best we can for him he is uncontracted so our hands are kind of tied ... Short term swapping Cripps for Koby will be a win for us .. Long term it should be a win for WCE .. Having said that Cripps could end up never reaching his potential so it could be a long term win for us aswell ...

Lake = Height: 195cm Weight: 104kg = much bigger than Simpkin
Scarlett is smaller, Height: 192cm Weight:94kg ..but very good. ..
Still bigger than Simpkin though = 191cm Weight: 91kg
Right now, IMO the only player we have that go well consitently on the big forwards is Sam Fisher. = Height: 191cm Weight: 93kg
Thing is if we get another FB then we free Fisher u again.
You do have to be huge to play FB...but if you are small then you need to be exceptional to hold the gun big forwards.
