Although Martin can play anywhere, the backline is his weakest position.. we all forget he had a magnificent 2010 season.. His Skills are pretty good. He has a lot more upside as he only stared playing AFL at 17 years of ageSainterK wrote:Maybe they've ditched the Brown option?
Dunno.
Could Stefan be groomed into a fullback? More of a Dustin Fletcher type option?

Not interested in ANY Melbourne rejects. Couldn't get a game at Melbourne, who aren't flushed with talent, yet people here are saying they would be happy with this trade. Get a grip people!!

Mitch Clarke is 200cm, Dawes get's there he can pinch hit.
2 more over 200 on their list.
Compare with us who have two over 200, so if they are willing to part with depth, I'm happy to have him run around at Sandy.

Absolutely..Martin very averagedragit wrote:Does anyone else find it a bit rude that collingwood would be eyeing off our 43 for the sake of 2 spots? After what they done to us in the past, I would just say Ray/Martin straight, that's it. Pick 20 is more than generous for Dawes as it is.

If i was Walsh and someone offered a first rounder, I would be getting the paper work through today for dawes. Someone might actually offer someone worthy of a first round pick and it won't be there anymore. What a dick.

"I think there's probably some better offers around than pick 20, to be blunt."
We can't be talking about the same Chris Dawes, surely? We moan a bit about Kosi, but this is a key forward at his peak age-wise... who has just managed 16 goals from 23 matches, compared to Kosi's 27 from 19.
The term 'spud' is used a little too often & really should be reserved for guys like Dawes.
Pick 20 is well over the top, yet they are squabbling about our pick 43 on top instead of 45, ken spare me.
By this 'formula', Kosi must be worth a top 3 pick, plus a mid 2nd rounder.
Someone really ought to give Melbourne, WBD, Cartlton etc a quick call and tell them how many goals Dawes has kicked, they must be confused and think they are bidding on Cloke.

Re: Sen rumour
I have a better idea
Ray & 25, for Martin & 20..
25 for Dawes is still generous if Melbourne are stupid enough.
Farren Ray - 26 Yo, pick # 4 national draft, 154 games,
Stefan Martin - also 26 in a month, pick # 3 in pre season draft, 52 games
Who should be downgrading a pick in this deal? Not us.

I like competition for spots.
No, If we get Martin, I'd like to think Kosi is then the depth player/backup emergency.
With Lee and Martin, Kosi is third banana IMO.....

Ray may well be a better player than Martin, but at 198cm's, he's a tall that we desperately are short of.dragit wrote:I have a better idea

Ray easily replaced.

Don't get hung up about worth, if Ray is not going to play seniors he has no value to us, if Martin suits a need or fills a hole then he has more value!
Maybe this year?

Don't forget we lost Goddard and Ray is a similar size and type player. We can't afford to lose too many players in this category.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Sen rumour
I'd prefer to keep Fazza. I like him, and I rate him.
But if he really does want to go, then I be very happy to get Martin.
I followed Stefan Martin through 2010 in my dreamteam, and he was terrific. A good ruck, but also lots of marks + kicks + tackles around the ground.
I just like the look of him.
(That important isn't it?)

I again ask wouldnt 200k buy a lot of peanuts. Loves the club. The most overused expression in football. Anyway great deal for pies if true. Fair deal for us if true. No winner, no loser.
