The seaford effect.
Interesting that a couple of players are asking to be traded TO St.Kilda.....
Especially since our training base is down in that suburban backwater......
This is just like so many predicted.......

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....
Re: The seaford effect.
And Hickey from the Suns.
I think it has a lot to do with; Youth Academy, Watters' philosophy, Sports Science Team, Seaford IS near the beach AND only half an hour from town (ish), and the extra cash that BJ left behind...

Re: The seaford effect.
Might be something to do with the fact that we have no Full Back, 1 ruckmen, 2 decent mids under 28, no key forwards under 30. We are like a gold rush town, where footyballers go to make good.
Re: The seaford effect.
Seaford might be a bit of a drive, but the facilities are fantastic. Add to that, a coach that the players genuinely seem to like and great mentors like Lenny, Rooey etc. I can see the attraction for young players.

True, but with their new facilities Essendon may be able to land a few jetsHalo wrote:I think I would rather go to Seaford than Tullamarine !!!!

Re: The seaford effect.
I don't think Seaford will clinch any deals.
More that deals will be done because of other factors and in spite of Seaford.

Can you be more specific?bigred wrote:Interesting that a couple of players are asking to be traded TO St.Kilda.....

If you mean Brown...he chose us because we need a FB, and he can really only play FB.....and he is at a club where he has several in front of him
If you mean Caddy...then he has not chosen us...
If you mean Hickey...then Seaford is a lot closer to home than GC is...and we are week in the ruck and so he ahasa chance of snaringa spot.
I can't think of anyone who want to come to us based on Seaford. Excpt Harvey and he left us for the Pies.

Not when the traffic is back to Bulla Road from Mickleham Road. Snails pace all the way. Better learn the backstreets of Airport West and Gladestone Park.Spinner wrote:Halo wrote:I think I would rather go to Seaford than Tullamarine !!!!
Tullamarine is closer to the city. 15mins on citylink.

And a bit of a nightmare for any player who wants to live in the trendier areas south of the yarra.HelenR wrote:Not when the traffic is back to Bulla Road from Mickleham Road. Re: The seaford effect.
I think the point of the post is players are nominating the Saints even though we train in Seaford. If Seaford was such a deterent, they wouldn't nominate us at all whether we need FB, ruck, etc.

Try and buy a decent house in Essendon and Strathmore for under $1 mil and get back to me ..... obviously have no clue about the area.Dr Spaceman wrote:And a bit of a nightmare for any player who wants to live in the trendier areas south of the yarra.HelenR wrote:Not when the traffic is back to Bulla Road from Mickleham Road. Re: The seaford effect.
I wasn't saying anything at all about Essendon or Strathmore. I wasn't saying that those areas weren't as trendy or as good as those south of the yarra. The Craw wrote:Try and buy a decent house in Essendon and Strathmore for under $1 mil and get back to me ..... obviously have no clue about the area.Dr Spaceman wrote:And a bit of a nightmare for any player who wants to live in the trendier areas south of the yarra.HelenR wrote: Not when the traffic is back to Bulla Road from Mickleham Road. I was simply saying that a lot of players chose to live in areas such as Port Melbourne, South Yarra etc and for them it could be a difficult commute.
Don't see things that aren't there

Re: The seaford effect.
Drove through my old home town of Moorabbin last week and just felt genuinely sad the Saints had moved out. Felt that a high profile South Road or Nepean Highway location would have just been fantastic. One area of Moorabbin that was not raised was the land previously occupied by the old gas and fuel on the highway close to Southland. Just seems disappointing that a local council would not have wanted an AFL team based in their area, and that the only solution our club had went for was a move to a place with no history. Went to many games as a kid at Moorabbin and it's a shame it's gone. Just my thoughts, that's all. Know it's been done to death here.

When the St KFC moved to Moorabbin...... I hated it................. for the same reason.......................... it had no history.
My Saints experience growing from a little kiddie to a teenager was down at The Junction Oval..................... that was Saints history for this Saints supporter.
But gradually Moorabbin found it's way into my heart as a young adult.
Now as a senior citizen living in Perth WA, I guess I'll grow to love Seaford, when I take my yearly pilgrimage to see the Saints play at the roofed in venue I detest, I'll at least be able to experiece the weather when I seek out their training venue at Seaford.
Also Seaford will bring childhood memories flooding back, when I lived in North Caulfiled as a tiny kiddy, we used to go to Seaford for holidays.................... so it will have a bit of history and tradition of a different kind for this ole girl
Re: The seaford effect.
At least someone else understood the OP, point is valid IMO. Dooms dayers had players avoiding us because of Seaford, reality is probably a non issue!Joffa 5 wrote:I think the point of the post is players are nominating the Saints even though we train in Seaford. Maybe this year?
