Especially since our training base is down in that suburban backwater......

I think it has a lot to do with; Youth Academy, Watters' philosophy, Sports Science Team, Seaford IS near the beach AND only half an hour from town (ish), and the extra cash that BJ left behind...

Seaford might be a bit of a drive, but the facilities are fantastic. Add to that, a coach that the players genuinely seem to like and great mentors like Lenny, Rooey etc. I can see the attraction for young players.

I don't think Seaford will clinch any deals.
More that deals will be done because of other factors and in spite of Seaford.

Can you be more specific?

If you mean Brown...he chose us because we need a FB, and he can really only play FB.....and he is at a club where he has several in front of him

If you mean Caddy...then he has not chosen us...

If you mean Hickey...then Seaford is a lot closer to home than GC is...and we are week in the ruck and so he ahasa chance of snaringa spot.


I can't think of anyone who want to come to us based on Seaford. Excpt Harvey and he left us for the Pies.

I think the point of the post is players are nominating the Saints even though we train in Seaford. If Seaford was such a deterent, they wouldn't nominate us at all whether we need FB, ruck, etc.

I wasn't saying anything at all about Essendon or Strathmore. I wasn't saying that those areas weren't as trendy or as good as those south of the yarra.

I was simply saying that a lot of players chose to live in areas such as Port Melbourne, South Yarra etc and for them it could be a difficult commute.

Drove through my old home town of Moorabbin last week and just felt genuinely sad the Saints had moved out. Felt that a high profile South Road or Nepean Highway location would have just been fantastic. One area of Moorabbin that was not raised was the land previously occupied by the old gas and fuel on the highway close to Southland. Just seems disappointing that a local council would not have wanted an AFL team based in their area, and that the only solution our club had went for was a move to a place with no history. Went to many games as a kid at Moorabbin and it's a shame it's gone. Just my thoughts, that's all. Know it's been done to death here.

When the St KFC moved to Moorabbin...... I hated it................. for the same reason.......................... it had no history.

My Saints experience growing from a little kiddie to a teenager was down at The Junction Oval..................... that was Saints history for this Saints supporter.

But gradually Moorabbin found it's way into my heart as a young adult.

Now as a senior citizen living in Perth WA, I guess I'll grow to love Seaford, when I take my yearly pilgrimage to see the Saints play at the roofed in venue I detest, I'll at least be able to experiece the weather when I seek out their training venue at Seaford.

Also Seaford will bring childhood memories flooding back, when I lived in North Caulfiled as a tiny kiddy, we used to go to Seaford for holidays.................... so it will have a bit of history and tradition of a different kind for this ole girl

At least someone else understood the OP, point is valid IMO. Dooms dayers had players avoiding us because of Seaford, reality is probably a non issue!
