Gee.... you must have a massive opinion of Cripps (lightly framed outside mid with a highly questionable medical history) to consider not trading a fringe player for a Key Position Defender ready to slot straight into FB from Round 1 next year....... all for 6 positions in the draft pecking order.defacto wrote:thats a terrible deal. thank god you dont work for the club.Seaford_Saint wrote:This deal could be difficult to get over the line.....
IMHO there is no way the Eagles will accept a straight Brown / Cripps swap (I wouldn't). Similarly I would be disappointed if we gave up either 12 or 13 for Brown.
Perhaps something like Brown + WCE Pick #18 <------> Crips + StK Pick #12 might get the deal done
at most player straight swap and a late pick. anything above that and were getting ripped off.

2nd and 3rd draft picks and fringe players will be used to trade and nothing else.

2nd/3rd round draft picks and fringe players won't get the deal done for a bona-fide KPD... the only thing holding Brown out of the team at the moment is the AA Captain.SaintPav wrote:2nd and 3rd draft picks and fringe players will be used to trade and nothing else.

Very average player and Im anything but excited about this move....
Is highly overrated due to his brother's success, who he himself is overrated due to Collingwood Player Syndrome... Makes him doubly overrated...
I really disliked Dawson as a player, but I reckon he's got Mitch Brown covered... And thats saying something..
Obviously the Frawley rumor is a sack of sh1t... Can't believe P66 guessed that correctly, again...

Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
If we could somehow get Brown and Hickey for our 2nd rounder and Ray compensation I'd be stoked. We could potentially get Melbourne's 3rd rounder (45) for Ray.
Get: Hickey & Brown
Lose: Ray & Pick 34

Just what we need. Big defender. Lots of mongrel which we lack.SainterK wrote:Are his injuries behind him?
Not hugely excited about this one?
Reassurance anyone?
Wont cost us the earth. Right age.
Means we can keep developing Ferg for another few years.
If we do end up with Brown - that will be it for the great man J Blake.
Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
I read the story, and nothing from either parties to confirm this is the case?

Agreed Con, they're sounding like Eddie "the Magpies bootstudder is worth two first round DP's" McGuire...Con Gorozidis wrote:brown only played 8 games and was dropped a few times.

The only thing in their favour is that Brown is KP and contracted for one more year. He has been injury prone and played minimal games this year. Hardly worth a swathe of players and picks.

Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
The reason he played minimal game time this year is because Glass, MacKenzie and Schofield are keeping him out of the side, so he isn't getting an extended run in the first 22.True Believer wrote:Agreed Con, they're sounding like Eddie "the Magpies bootstudder is worth two first round DP's" McGuire...Con Gorozidis wrote:brown only played 8 games and was dropped a few times.

Brown has done two things:SaintWodonga wrote:Any news from our friends over in Perth on this trade? What are you guys hearing?
1) Told WCE he wants to return to Victoria
2) Nominated the saints as his preferred club
I expect the deal to get done this week, involving Cripps.

Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
If the club wants Mitch Brown it needs to get the deal done early.
Otherwise Filthy Eddie will demand Brown as part of a deal for Wellingham.
However Eddie wont deal until the last minute as he tries to extract an unfair deal.
I just hope West Coast was watching when Luke Ball and his agent refused to talk to any other clubs as he waited for the draft.
If West Coast and Wellingham have the guts I think they could really stick it to Eddie.
Wellingham taken in the national draft with no compensation for Filthy Eddie.

Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
I'm more concerned about Brown than I am about Lee…
50 games in 6 years is tracking at Raph Clarke levels.
Let's not forget that before this year, WCE have been absolutely slaughtered since Brown has been at the club, if he was any good he would have played more IMO.
I don't really rate Nathan that much either, Reid is twice the player.
L.Thompson might come cheaper and be just as good.
Hopefully it is a straight swap with Cripps if anything.

Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
While they were slaughtered they still had one of the best FBs and a quality up and comer in McKenzie come in. Plus injuries play a part and surely a key back needs to develop. Having said that, still unsure... I would entertain Stevens and Brown for 24 & Crippa. But for Brown, 13 is off limits!dragit wrote:I'm more concerned about Brown than I am about Lee…

I agree dragit, it's the successive hamstrings and groin issues that are concerning.

Re: 3 year offer for Mitch Brown
yes, no way we should use 13. or even 24. I dont think we will. We will have plan B and if WC dont give a reasonable trade we should walk away.
The fact is 50 games in 6 years and only a few in 2012 as a 23 year old is just not worth more than our pick 34, going on history of such trades... older players not in a teams top 22 dont deserve high picks.
Will be interesting to contrast what WC offer for Wellingham who is in Collingwoods best 22, with what they expect for Brown....
34 for Brown is more than reasonable

What are the dates ofthe hamstring injuries?
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
