Geelong and Sydney over the last two years where hardly what youd call quick sides.

A ball will always move through the air faster than someone can run. Skills. Skills. Skills.

I think you'll find that the Rugby codes are built on defying this fact

Rugby codes? Sorry but I don't get the link. Rugby ball goes backwards. Any kicking is usually high to allow players to make the distance. Carry at length withouth bouncing or disposing. Different context completely.

You're assuming WC want him.

He's kinda buggered if they don't.

And I'm not sure why they would want him given what they have.

I guess they may as well take him, given that he wants to come home and Stevens has walked out. They can probably get away with paying him $150k so the cost is essentially zero, which makes it all upside. Worse comes to worst, he never makes it and they delist him in a couple of years with no real loss. There's a chance he becomes a solid wingman/HBF for them in which case they've won big from the deal. Pretty good position for them!

Actually, he reminds me of Embley a bit so maybe he's a drop-in replacement?

Embley is granite next to Cripps' fairy floss IMO.

Cripps is one of our faster players. Apart from Steven there is bugger all pace in the middle.

Plugger, what about Milera?

Haven't seen much about it in the media, they keep linking Stevens with the Bulldogs. Just a few here joining the dots between Cripps and Stevens.

How often has crips played in the middle??

Ball carriers
Steven, gram, Gilbert, montagna, milera, Schneider, fisher

These are player who run, carry, bounce

Crips at best was an opportunistic forward

Cripps for Koby Stevens... done... if Cripps wants to go, you can't do much, and I don't certainly want to end up with nothing like the Luke Ball saga where we were offered Wellingham...

If Cripps wants to go, even if we convince him to stay a year or two, he'll then want to leave, so might as well just do it now and be done with it. I don't want to see us put in time/effort into players that don't want to stay.

Plus tbh, Lenny will probably finish up next year (hope not though), so I think having Koby will help us...

spot on. which makes the decision to play him off the back line and wing unusual. thought his best position was close to goal and a long term replacement for milne/schneider.

Not a long term anything

Saad, Milera, Minchington will be eventual small forwards

I'd take the draft pick...

Send him to Freo with our 3rd rounder for pick 16.

Is this trade even going to happen?

Koby looks like a very blah inside grunt to me. He hasn't had a lot of opportunities, but his results haven't been to flash when he has got a shot. I'd much prefer to either keep Cripps or a trade for a draft pick.

He was taken around 23 in the draft and we want pick 16 and a third rounder? Ross hates youth anyway so doubt he's had a chance to plod enough to excite the Lyon.

To be fair, Stevens only had one game where he wasn't sub this year and he did get 19 touches, 7 marks, 6 inside 50s and 2 goal assists. This was against GWS though. In his other three games he generally only got a quarter on the field.

Neither Stevens or Cripps are particularly hot property, I'd rather get a pick but wouldn't be too upset with a straight swap.

Cripps for me remains a draft pick around 20-30 (he is still only 20 yo)

No way you can say the same about this Koby guy - he is 21yo and more like a 60-80 draft pick.

cripps went 24, stevens went 22???
Cripps draft was probably more compromised was it?

true - but forgetting draft order

Cripps
Age 20, games 16 goals 16

Stevens
Age 21, games 11, goals 2.

Both average similar disposals - but both spent a fair bit of time on the old pine.

So I guess maybe Cripps = 40 and Stevens a 50?
