Goddard not a true Saint!
We had our chance for a flag over the 09 - 10 season with Lyon. Now it Is time to reboot for another surge under Watters we will hurt if he wins a flag at Essendon the same as we hurt when Ball won the flag at the Pies. However we now most likely will get pick 13 as compo and with our pick 12 already we will be able to hopefully pick up two great players. We will be alright saints we have been here before with Lockett Everit Hall Ball now Goddard and we will bounce back. I have faith in Watters SMS Pelchen we will be up and about pushing for a flag in 3-4 years I honestly believe. The thing what annoys me the most is we granted him life membership I believe such things should only be kept for true saints like Hayes, Roo etc. Goddard will never be any where near the player or servant to our wonderful club that Hayes has been. So let the money hungry over rated Goddard run off to the Bombers and let's hope we can pick up some true Saints with our picks like players like Hayes has been.
Re: Goddard not a true Saint!
i understand where u are coming from....
I am sad he is gone, but understand why he is going and dont begrudge him.
that being said, he will no longer be a 'true saint' in my eyes... not the same way as lenny, roo etc...
i really think that the club a player retires at, is the club that he remembers as his club... (in most occasions), so its bomber bj now....

I rate Plugger as a Swan and i'll rate Greedard as a Bomber

Question is would Roo stay on 500k every year since he became a superstar?

Re: Goddard not a true Saint!
We lose half of our heros if we go down this path… Goddard well and truly earnt his life membership… Plugger was one of the greatest ever, kicked a lot more goals with us and won a brownlow… Don't begrude Winmar… just champion who wasn't ready to retire.
I doubt any of you have forgone a million dollars to do anything?

Re: Goddard not a true Saint!
200 games gets you life membership !
it was obviously given try and persuade him to stay . but i'm sure he would have gotten it at some stage , like we did with everitt .

Re: Goddard not a true Saint!
Roo has been worth the massive money. Our offer to Goddard was very generous considering his last two years, and Essendon's offer was insane.noob wrote:Question is would Roo stay on 500k every year since he became a superstar?
