I thought this 'ultimate' thing was a joke.
Seems it is not...

That looks like the club are rewarding long term Social Club members who also pay for premium Social Club facilities.Mr Magic wrote:From what I can make out of the renewal letter, it appears I've received a $140 discount on my total cost of membership!
I've been categorized as an 'Ultimate Red, White and Black Member with reserved seat on Lvl 2 and the total cost is $508 compared with my sons who are classified as 'Ultimate Member' with reserved seats on Lvl 2 at a total cost of $648 each.

There seems to be every possible combination of memberships/seats etc. on here, and everyone seems to be Category 2? So does it actually mean anything?
Selhurst Saint wrote:We received our 2013 membership letters yesterday and they have changed members categories again in relation to Social Club.
I am a category 1 member and my partner is deemed category 2.
The reason being is that I have a reserved seat and she doesn't.
The effect is that category 1 members are issued Grand Final Tickets first. Therefore means we cannot sit together unless I opt out of category 1 and join category 2.
SinCitySainter wrote:If category 2 means you are not assured a GF ticket if we make it, then the club can stick it's social club membership up its arse.
I have been a SC member for 15+ years because it meant if we ever made it I was assured of a ticket.
Without that assurance the social club membership holds little value except as a cash grab for the club.

It sounds like some on here still want the SC to be about drinking subsidised beer & playing squash for free while watching the club go into administration.
If you are going to get on your high horse, you could at least get your facts correct.Saints43 wrote:

Well considering the infrastructure & buildings the social club used belonged to the football club (and the FC supplied something to look at out of the windows as well) it's great that they funnelled a pittance to the football club for use of their property. The social club worked against the football club for years. More interested in subsidised(not free!!!!) squash and cheap beer. Kept the club poor. That's why they finished up the bludgers club and incorporated it into the fc.saintsRrising wrote:That is the flow of money was TO the Football Club from the Social Club paid for FROM the pockets of SC Members.
Most of us got SC it because it entitled us to a GF ticket (for a few it was a subsidised knees up) and while that looked like a donation most years it certainly didn't when the GF ticket windows slammed shut on the non SC members queue at Morrabbin in '97. It's an insurance policy. If it was a donation people wouldn't care what they got for it.loris wrote:It's been like an extra donation to the Club over the years. Which we pray will give us dibs on a GF ticket if the Saints are in a GF.
It would have been nice if the club explained Priority 1 etc.loris wrote:But I guess I'll wait until I find out what it means, before I go off too 'half-cocked'
Ah...now the truth comes out...that is why YOU joined.Saints43 wrote:

Copped floggings every week because parasites were leeching any potential profits out of the club. That's why the football club took over the social club. And the social club fought the footy club all the way over profits they made because they were aligned to St Kilda Football Club. Piss ups first. It's an absolute joke that you and your chums think you were loyal through the dismal 80's when you played the primary role in keeping the club poor.saintsRrising wrote:I can assure you that when I and my mates joined the Social Club it had absolutely nothing at all to do with GF tickets. We were SC Members when we were copping floggings week in week out and wins were rare and included periods like 100 point floggings 3 weeks in a row. Access to GF tickets was not a consideration at all back then.
Yep, that's why they downgraded your status.saintsRrising wrote:The Saints 43's of the world will take their money and run when GF's are not likely.....
