Brownlow votes + age profile

Post: # 1265299Post Con Gorozidis »

So comparing us to the teams near us on the ladder and in brownlow vote totals - we are actually the worst off compared to freo and the blues.
for instance the dockers have 8 medium aged players in their top 10 and we only have 3.
the blues have 7 in that age group and the roos 8 or so also.

So we are still looking very top heavy in age. sure we will go for some kids this draft - but ill almost guarantee we go after some more players in the 22-26 yo age group. ill guarantee it. We are just so weak there.

n.b: yes i expect the usual blow-back comments such as "brownlow votes dont mean anything + what about geary + gwilt + stanley" etc but that doesnt change my argument.

How old are Nathan Fyfe and Stephen Hill? I thought they would by more on the young age group than medium.

Goddard would be in the medium group. He only turned 27 a few months ago, I think people on here want him to be older than he really is though so it doesn't hurt as much if he leaves.

Age wise, he's approaching or perhaps not even at his peak which convention says is 27-29 for AFL footballers.

as usual people focus on the fringe/marginal issues.
ok well swap goddard and dempster if u like. it makes no difference.
hill = 22
fyfe = 21

doesnt really change the facts. pelchen will go for someone in 22-26yo old group to remedy this if he can IMHO.

quick look at bummers using the same method have a (1,8,1)
based on this formula bombers would be thinking if they cant win one in the next 2-3 years then this current crop will never win one.
it would therefore make sense to go after goddard. its now or never for these bombers. they have invested heavily in youth who are now hitting their peak age.
