I* cant understand why Dal is a free agent next year when BJ is this year. Dal has been with the club longer than BJ has.

Here's a rumour I heard.
Ledger will be heading back west.
The source is pretty adamant.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

That's really disappointing if so but it may explain why he wasn't given many games?

Love this idea. I have always thought his mercurial nature, like many indigenous players, would maks him very dangerous inside 50. May be a Mickey o'loughlin type. I think a defensive role doesnt play to his instincts and when a mistake happens, its sometimes costly

Well from what I had heard both Ledger and Cripps were feeling home sick and I'm not liking the fact that they are both unsigned!

Re: Rumour Thread
two blokes that Ross loves and we could manage a pretty decent deal out of them?? sad to see them go but id be very open to the possibility of a trade with either of the west teams although id say only Freo would show interest.

Re: Rumour Thread
Gee we can't really afford to be losing two 20 year olds at the moment can we…?
We would think very hard about recruiting players from interstate in the future if this happens.
The biggest problem here is that you can only deal with one or two clubs, which gives you very little bargaining power… WCE might not be interested in either, in which case Ross will just get them to walk into the draft like Dawson did.
Hope this isn't true, we haven't seen enough of either of them yet to know how good they might become.

I read somewhere (I hope it was'nt on here) that Ross was interested in Tom Ledger. Maybe that is what this is all about, Ledger wanting to go home etc.

Re: Rumour Thread
I hope it is only Ledger. Cripps is not that far away from our best 22 at this stage. He does not have to improve greatly to be in our starting 22, probably needs to be more consistant. Tom Ledger is a fair way away from our best 22 I would think.
Re: Rumour Thread
One would hope that if they do want to head back to WA, however can't get there via a trade, then they just sign on with us instead of taking the risk of finishing their AFL careers early. Personally I don't think clubs would have seen enough positive things from Ledger to consider him an option unless it was for a draft pick they weren't going to use. Cripps on the other hand would attract both clubs IMO however I'm not sure so we'd get our pick that we used on him back. Probably closer to a second round pick around 40...Or so. I hope we sign these boys up, quickly, as they'll be third year players next year and ready to play some good AFL footy if they make the grade.dragit wrote:Gee we can't really afford to be losing two 20 year olds at the moment can we…?

Re: Rumour Thread
Ledger will definately step up with more senior games, just as Cripps has. Although we need tall defenders, we also need to rejig the midfield/ onball side of the team, as it is falling behind the top four and I think Ledger could be a good contributor within the next couple of seasons.

i think it would be more of a case of not being in the coaches plans as he inherited those two and if thats the case then we would be stupid to see if there was any interest for them if not then we sign them up no big loss in having a look at the market as they are not going to be chased by every club in the afl.

Re: Rumour Thread
I would not let go of Cripps but would tentatively trade ledger for good compo.
Apparently Salopek has quit Port which will no doubt increase his speculation that he'll move to St Kilda because he barracked for them as a kid.
