I have to say that there are reasons why we finished ninth obviously.
The most compelling is the lack of young key position players coming
Through.
We have been a happier club to be at recently so haven't lost too many
players we have wanted to keep , but often got something out of their loss.
We desperately need young talent. Too often it's the older players in the best.
We will lose something with B.J. but we need to start taking risks.
Not sure I could take being crappy for ten year stretches again.

Freo just missed out and could have been there, so could have West coast, just because Scarlett toe poked does that mean we weren't in the game? Milne had the ball bounce at odd angles so we could never have won it in the 2010GF. Flawed logic.

Pelchen rebuilt the Hawks premiership list to be nearly water tight with out any real drop off. Hope he can manage something similar while challenging around the bottom of the 8. A little luck can gain momentum so better to be around the mark and see what happens.

If we can gain either a ruckman or tall defender during the trade period, I would be wrapped. But we definitely need to pick quality talls, and to bolster our midfield.

Cant help but wonder what a difference a key defender and a quality tap ruckman to help a developing Ben would have made. Freeing up Fisher and Gwilt to run out of defence and first use from ruck contests to our gun midfield could have seen results go differently. Maybe even topr four.

This year just about proves you cannot win a flag from outside the top 4. people thought the teams were more even this year but again the top 4 get through to the prelim.

Well the point of this thread is that our club will not be top 4 next year so it maybe time to let BK go to hurry up the rebuilding of the club. I know there are others older who could also go but they're not wanting or getting as much money apart Roo and BJ also seems a wanted man. We will get about pick 13 which isnt great but 2 top 13 picks plus salary cap relief gives us a chance to also get some younger proven players. We will see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

But come finals time next year please forget about the bottom 4 of the 8.

Just a furthy in my opinion. It will happen. Collingwood should have finished 5t anyway and would have if Milney had not been free kicked only 20 seconds prior to the end of the game against them.

I doubt see how that proves anything. And I said it just about proves you cannot win a flag outside the top4. It may eventually happen but if you cant finish top 4 then you are about 100 to one to win it.
