What can Watters bring out of him?
That's the thing, he may be able to take a guy and motivate him to get the best out of himself.
He's done that with a few guys on our list this year.

I'm really surprised Geelong would trade Simpson if he was any good. Their ruck division is terrible. Stephenson is a stop gap & very ordinary. Trent West is barely VFL standard.

I admire the Collingwoods, West Coasts and Hawthorns.
They don't so much place a limit on the marquee players but they still need to be respected and valued.

Depends what we give up for Warnock, he isn't a free agent so it wont affect the BJ compensation if BJ decides to leave. If we pay him a rookie wage, and give up 4th or worse pick or a player who we are going to delist anyway, I'd be saying great pick up in case there is an injury to a ruckman!
He wouldn't be on my radar, but if he came to us for nothing I wouldn't be upset.

Isn't Warnock on 400k a year? I'd take him as backup if Carlton covered half his wage. He's a bit of a spud and not worth any more IMO.

He had a pretty decent 2011 season - played 20 games (incl 2 finals) averaging around 12 disposals a game and 30 hitouts
He will 26 by the start of next season and really should only starting to mature as a ruckman that said he has had both shoulders operated on as well as hamstring and foot issues. (seems to be quite inury prone)
He re-signed with Carlton to a three year contract in July this year - so if he is available it seems Malthouse doesnt want him
Of course there are some better younger prospects around however if we are struggling to lure them from other clubs and Warnock comes us for a 4 or 5th round draft pick and if he agrees to half of what Carlton was paying him (reportedly around 400k a year) then he would be a better back up to McEvoy than Blake and Kosi in terms of rucking.

He is one of those guys who looks like he will be good but doesn't show any actual evidence. Height and build don't make a player, he looks a dud and heard he was on more than that.

He is completely the wrong type of ruckman we need. I cant see how he and Ben could fit into the same side. Neither could really play forward for more than a few minutes a game.

The idea of a guy who has a 3 year deal worth 400K PA at a club on the rise, agreeing to be traded to a rebuilding side for minimum wage is one of the most insane concepts I have heard, why would he agree to that?

Whoever said it, Hickey is the one to watch, but would take a lot to get a promising Queensland young ruckman away from Gold Coast...
