Re: Josh Caddy
Pretty sure he's just putting pressure on Goddard. Watters is much more likely to say something that suits his agenda than subtly giving away information on the inner workings of the club. I like Watters, but he has flat out lied several times this year. He said Wilkes had a minor injury when subbed off against Melbourne, claiming players with soft tissue injuries are a chance to play one week and then only returning 3-4 weeks later etcjimmy_slats wrote:i think people are forgetting what Watters said in his press confrence when they announced the signings of 4 key players and i quote "“One thing I’ll say about all these guys is they’re not playing here for the money. They play here because they love the club.” in saying that im assuming that he may just of freed up a good lot of space on not only these 4 guys but also sam fisher as well so who are we to say that we are on the brink with the cap? if Watters says we are not the why do we all assume he is just telling porkies?

Just wondering if there is any chance Josh Caddy and Jack Newnes are good mates?
Would help us if they were.

Could swear he is. So many rumours about players wanting to go "home" & they don't even check to see that they're already in their home state

Well unless they've moved Eltham a few thousand kms to the West I think you'll find he's a VIC fellasavatage wrote:Could swear he is. So many rumours about players wanting to go "home" & they don't even check to see that they're already in their home state

Re: Josh Caddy
What about Schneider, he would have some trade value, could be replaced by Saad, Milera, Newnes, Dunell, maybe Markworth & Minchington. I think Watters said he would have to earn his spot (in 2013)plugger66 wrote:Those players were going long ago so their salaries would have been known about when seeing if we had enough money for BJ let alone Caddy. It will be the same with Raph and Blake when they both go. I think the only way we could get a fair bit of money in the cap is if we traded or got rid of player that was some sort of surprise who was on good money.MCG-Unit wrote:Yes also they have already delisted 3 senior listed players, reckon there's more to come and maybe retirements. Hopefully that should make some more cap room. Really like what I've seen of Caddy.MCG-Unit wrote:
You might need to check the background here - last year he wanted to come back to Vic (Ess) to be with his sick father, not necessarily a 'sook'
Folks do get homesick.
Would give up the first DP for Caddy in a heartbeat - subject to a medical, as he's had injuries. Not at the expense of Goddard though, I reckon they can get Caddy and retain Goddard.
Would you be prepared to trade him to help retain Goddard/get Caddy/get a decent FB ?

Re: Josh Caddy
Latest whisper I heard is that the club is right into Caddy & trying to get Josh Toy thrown in as well. Offering pick 12 plus player (not sure who).
Hickey not on radar.
Goddard happy with $$$ just wants the 4th year.
If that is close to the mark then our salary cap obviously is pretty good shape (keeping BJ & adding Caddy).

If this is right and we pull it off, bring on 2013 especially if that player is RaphAnimal Enclosure wrote:Latest whisper I heard is that the club is right into Caddy & trying to get Josh Toy thrown in as well. Offering pick 12 plus player (not sure who).

Re: Josh Caddy
Sounds like a good deal - I guess the player from our end is Raph Clarke or similar...
There has been lots of talk re Goddard I hope he makes a decision either way soon so the club can get on with filling other requirements..
Shame about Hickey he is the exact proto type of the ruckman we need.

If that 'plus player' is Raph, or similar calibre, go for it... If its a Dal, then it'd be the same as losing BJ...
I'd be shattered to lose Dal, or BJ for that matter...
For the record, from what I've seen of Toy, he will struggle to make it...

Is this our Raph who played about 3 games this year. He has no value at all. Why do people think clubs are dumb.

yup. and now gcs will trade him to whichever melbourne club gives them the best return. caddy's club preferences mean nothing at this point.Ralphy wrote:Yes he is - he has asked to be tradedbergholt wrote:how would it help us? is caddy actually in a position to make demands of gcs?

Re: Josh Caddy
I wouldn't say they mean nothing. He has to agree to the trade as well, or could walk and leave them with nothing. Obviously both parties do not want it to come to that, but Caddy definitely has a say.bergholt wrote:yup. and now gcs will trade him to whichever melbourne club gives them the best return. caddy's club preferences mean nothing at this point.Ralphy wrote:Yes he is - he has asked to be tradedbergholt wrote:how would it help us? is caddy actually in a position to make demands of gcs?
