40 man All Australian squad picked today. 22-man team, as if to play a match, will be named on Mon Sept 17. Squad to follow in club order:


Crows and Cats each supplied five members of the squad while Hawthorn, Richmond, St Kilda, Swans and West Coast all had four players.

All Aust Squad pt4 – S Milne, N Riewoldt, K Jack, L Jetta, J Kennedy, T Richards, D Cox, D Glass, N Naitanui, B Waters.

All Aust Squad pt 3 – S Mitchell, C Rioli, D Petrie, A Swallow, T Cotchin, B Deledio, I Maric, J Riewoldt, S Dempster, L Hayes.

All Aust Squad pt 2 – L McPharlin, M Pavlich, C Enright, T Hawkins, T Lonergan, J Selwood, H Taylor, G Ablett, G Birchall, L Franklin.

So lets discount Lenny and Rooy who would be very doubtful. It is Milney v Rioli and Jetta and Dempster v Waters and Enright and Birchall.

Milney should be in , but because the media spend so much time ejaculating over cyril , he may miss !
Dempster has been great , but when there is no standout , they tend to give it to player who have been consistent over many years , so i think he may miss out .
If his 2013 is as good then i reckon he'd get picked next year.

The commentators were suggesting the Eddie Betts might get a jumper because of his goal assists.

The other commentators suggested that every year there are some shockers.

This would be one of them. Betts cannot kick straight, his tackles do not hit and his disposal around the ground is meh.

What do you base Enright on? He averages 3 more possesions per game, one less mark and .4 more tackles than Dempster and you say no way.

Roo would have made it if his injury hadn't been right at the end of the year; he'll be too far out of the selectors' minds to get the gig. Milney would be a certainty if Margetts didn't take offence to the word homo. Lenny is pretty much no chance but Dempster could be a dark horse if they realise the usual small/medium AA defenders haven't been much good this year.

Milne deserves it as career recognition, particularly for his consistency yet again ... 3 years in a row above 50 goals is very unusual for a small forward.

If you were picking a side to win you a game of footy and wanted potency up forward, you would both select Milne and Rioli. It shouldn't be one or the other.


Dempster on form should get in, but the selectors do like to see some consistency over 1-2 seasons.


Will be an absolute joke if Lonergan or Enright get in.

No doubt Milne is still the premier small forward in the comp.

We love him at St Kilda, but outside the club he is hated (even by umpires) and for this reason I think he will miss.

It will be a travesty if it happens, but it's every chance

Can you explain why Enright would be a joke but Dempster deserves it. Stats suggest he is ahead of Dempster and in the games I have seen looks nearly as good as any other year. I hope Dempster gets in but Enright certainly deserves to be up there on watching the game and stats.

Dempster should get in by a country mile and he should also be a co captain with Armo next year. It's a no-brainer for the future.
