Personally, i don't care..i want a flag, not an accolade for an individual
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Best and Fairest guesses
who's leading the coaches votes for the club? haven't checked past seasons but surely that would be a good indicator?
from my filtered television view i'd be thinking lenny, dempster, dal, milne, and roo would be leading the pack. steven and armo would have picked up a few before the break, then tailed away completely.

If we go by coaches votes then Dempster will be lucky to be top 5. I suppose we need to look at last year to see if it was similar. Also we dont know how they vote. If it is like it has been for the last few years then missing more than 2 games can be a huge penalty.

If Montagna finishes above Roo or Dal or Milne or even Gears, then that is just an absolute crock.BigMart wrote:Sean Dempster

Re: Best and Fairest guesses
Id bet quite a bit that Monagna will finish in the top 6
Best and fairest voting is very different from best player only voting, it rewards consistency in doing team role....
Joey will be rewarded for playing every game, you could throw a net over 3rd to 10th IMO

Re: Best and Fairest guesses
You could be right. Not having a go at you, but if his role for the first half of the season was to avoid the hard ball and to not be damaging at all with the ball, then he is a shoe in.BigMart wrote:Id bet quite a bit that Monagna will finish in the top 6

Never saw him influence a game in the first half of the year, especially in the close ones.
But as you said he was on the field for every game, so you could be right, he may be up there on attendance alone.

You must have been shattered when he re-signed for 2 years, you've been banging this broken drum all year…tweedaletomanning wrote:You could be right. 3rd at the club for clearances, 3rd for contested ball, 2nd for tackles, 2nd for goal assists, 1st for inside 50's
He must have had a ripping second half of the year if his first half was as bad as you make out
Re: Best and Fairest guesses
It's why I reckon he will come 4th
He has been Good
Not great, but not poor.... And been doing roles.... Not just winning ball

Epitome of the flat track bully .
You see mrs Montagna, you are not getting it! If I thought he wasn't capable of more, I wouldn't be on his case.
Kosi tries his heart out, that's why I never bag him. He is just not capable of more.

What a load of absolute s***, Watters would love to keep him.andrewg wrote:watters knows this watters doesnt care if he stayes or goes.
That fact is he's had one ordinary year, but he's still in our best 5 players regardless of where he finishes in the B&F.
How ordinary was Roo in 2010 & 2012, are we moaning that about what he's being paid, NO because he actually regained a lot of form this year.

Re: Best and Fairest guesses
I’ve just done a little analysis of the voting on this forum and ascertained the following:
2012 Dr. Leo Spaceman Medal (Top 10)
52 Hayes
34 Armitage
30 Goddard
29 Riewoldt
28 Dempster
21 Dal Santo
17 Steven
16 Geary
10 Milne
10 Ray
So anyone thinking of having a bet I would strongly suggest you look at these results….
……and go for something completely different

Lenny by a street.
Then any of Goddard, Dal, Armo, Jack or Roo.
But a bit hard to tell with the points system used.
