Re: Out third biggest win ever!
Probably the weakest ever team that we have played.
GWS was already not a good team...but they has oodles of other best out today.
Sure, we had good players out...but we were playing a VFL level development team today.

Re: Out third biggest win ever!
It looked like we were going to challenge our record of highest score kicked in a game (204 points) at half time.
Alas, we took the took the foot off the pedal in the second half. I had a feeling it would be the case after Lenny was subbed.

P.S. I am happy the 2005 game is still the record. It was a revenge game for us.

Right club, wrong margin.Chef attack wrote:Melbourne take the cake though, they are the biggest losers ever, 186, we shall never forget
Try 190 points against Fitzroy @ Waverley, Round 17 1979.

It was the game Daicos made his debut.
Vic Park was almost always unpleasant but that day was particularly bad - just 3 goals for the game.

Re: Our third biggest win ever!
79 was Terrible.
We kicked one goal in each of the first three quarters.
But couldn't manage one in the last as the ferals ran riot.
I was with two Collingwood supporters.
And by the end of the game I think I was the only StKilda supporter in the outer (it seemed that way).
The next year they had a similarly huge win over us again out at Arctic Park.
But the "Winmar-McAdam" game was definitely my fondest memory of Victoria Park.

Was only the 15th time we've won by three figures. Eight of those have been from 2004 onwards.

Yep 1979 was seriously dark, like burned into my memory banks - and i was only eight and a half !Enrico_Misso wrote:I was there.SaintPav wrote:At least you weren't there...Chef attack wrote:Just looked it up, 178 against the pies in 1979, my birth year

My main memory is the put downs i got at school from the other kids. Not just pie fans either, they all thought it was fair to call the Saints a joke and ridicule me for being a fan. It was like they thought i should be ashamed of myself for advertising the fact that barracked for the StKFC. Such was the clubs shameful beatings, in their eyes. But I was always wearing my St.kilda beanie on the Monday morning going to school. And also Tuesday and Wednesday etc because it was my morning routine to wear a beanie in riding to school. That Saints beanie was always in my school bag.
If nothing else it taught me to withstand withering insult just for being a Sainter kid. And perhaps i needed this early experience to withstand the 1980's! It certainly took a great deal of Fortius Quo Fidelius* in those days. A real feat of proud stubborn resilience.

That was the game that was the beginning of the end for Mike Patterson as our coach.

Re: Our third biggest win ever!
For me the huge wins always mean more when it is against a traditional club, which includes the Swans.
Interestingly, before 1991 we had only won a handful of games in the vicinity of 15 goals or more. Over the last fifteen years we must have won something like 20-25 by that type of margin.
