Let's finish with a record
As it's no extremely doubtful that we will finsh in finals. I'd love to have something to remember the season by.
Wouldn't it be great if we could beat out highest score ever against GWS .... or beat Geelon's highest AFL record ... or see Saad kick 10 goals ... or keep GWS to their lowest score - or they lose by the biggest margin. I know it's only GWS but let's face it a 8 goal win would be pretty boring. Just go for it guys!!

Re: Let's finish with a record
If we do win our last 2 games, has there ever been a club in the AFL win 12 games and have a % of 120 and not make the finals? In fact we could finish 10th
That would be some sort of record, ( not a pleasant one). Mind you it is also a pretty good performance from a first year coach, Lyon only won 11 in his first season, and we did blood some new talent this year which will hold us in good stead for next year

So what does that make Buckley then?BringBackMadDog wrote:If we do win our last 2 games, has there ever been a club in the AFL win 12 games and have a % of 120 and not make the finals? In fact we could finish 10th

A fine young coach in charge of a very good list that has the confidence of having tasted the ultimate success.chook23 wrote:So what does that make Buckley then?BringBackMadDog wrote:If we do win our last 2 games, has there ever been a club in the AFL win 12 games and have a % of 120 and not make the finals? I reckon Sanderson has them both covered this year.

Last year, 12 wins and our percentage would have landed us 6th.
Last year we won 12, lost 9, drew 1.

Put Milne at full forward and aim everything at him to try to get him over the line for the Coleman. It would be something to take out of the season

Makes me nervous reading this stuff. Let's just hope we don't embarrass ourselves. I'll take an eight goal win and some excitement from some young players to take away to next week and next year.

Good point, I guess we're ripe for the picking with so many changes and out of the running for the finals ... and GWS looking for a good scalp to take out of the season.

Re: Let's finish with a record
Lets finish it with how we are doing it....blooding more players who have only had few games.
Without the game not having started I am already delighted by our ins.
I am not at all phased by our winning margin. Great if it is big....but I care not if it isn't.
Will be great just to see how Ross etc go at a higher level!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Let's finish with a record
I think Carlton missed the top six in 1992 with 13 wins. Our bye in the final round kept them out.BringBackMadDog wrote:If we do win our last 2 games, has there ever been a club in the AFL win 12 games and have a % of 120 and not make the finals? In fact we could finish 10th

Re: Let's finish with a record
No. There have been a couple of clubs which have won 12 and did not make the 8 - Richmond twice (1994, 1998) and Hawthorn (2003). Of course, we haven't won 11 yet, let alone 12. As you say, a record only the Saints could "achieve". And people say we are not jinxed.BringBackMadDog wrote:If we do win our last 2 games, has there ever been a club in the AFL win 12 games and have a % of 120 and not make the finals? ...

I'm with you. Great to see Ross getting a go. Love to see Tommy Ledger getting another gig. And I am a big fan of both Newnes and Milera.
Sippa should be getting more games too. Welcome back!

Re: Let's finish with a record
I'm all for finishing with a record victory but the season finishes against Carlton.
There would be no joy in thumping GWS but the Blues are a different matter.
