Is Jack Steven any threat of not turning the ball over?

Mighty pissed off about that Schneider decision. In a tight game, when they haven't been paying them all night. Consustency is all i ask for.

Legs are gone. Needed to kick better in the third, and need to eradicate those poor second quarters next year.

Gwilt just not the player he used to be. Let's hope he gets back to it next season. Roo gets rested from here on. Team will improve next year with this one under the belt with watters' game plan and the new players. This time last year the future looked grim. But I'm pretty confident we'll rise again next year.

Pretty obvious that the midfield of Hayes NDS and Montagna has had its day and it's rebuild time. Bloody ordinary effort considering it was such an important game for the club. Steven just running around like a rabbit, but a rabbit has better disposal. A real lack of leadership.

Tend to agree - we badly need an injection of class
What scares me is that Steven/Armo have been good.... but they are no Hayes/ Dal Santo replacements... we are in for some pain I think and desperately need some decent ball users.

The fear I have is that if we dont trade for some or instill that in our current list we have stuff all chance of drafting them thanks to the bulls*** pretend teams that fat andy put in to stick it up the rugby and soccerTeflon wrote:spert wrote:Pretty obvious that the midfield of Hayes NDS and Montagna has had its day and it's rebuild time. Tonight showed that we lack quality, consistency and even a bit of structure. Not to mention histrionics and sooking for freebies but thats not something I want MY team to do

Won't be long before their young players start killing us. We need a rebuild starting now and it isn't going to happen overnight to state the obvious.

Re: Saints v Cats Match Thread
It's a real worry - the way we dropped off tonight. This year's draft period will be very interesting. Watters has had 12 months and I think, knows what needs to be done.
Let's hope that we see a few of the younger guys for the rest of the year.

Re: Saints v Cats Match Thread
Umpiring is not one way. I reckon Saints got the benefit in the first half had a few go wrong over the 3rd and 4th quarters but same Cats having some decisions not going their way oftern (whe they should have).Verdun66 wrote:Umpiring one-way... I'll say it again......
How was that not a free-kick?
Its simple. Kicking 10 to 3 to opposition players creates a huge opportunity for teams to break and run. Many of those miskicks set u pgoals for Geelong.
Again in the 4th when Fisher kicked a little too high and long this resulted in a goal and basically the team dropped their bundle with another 24 points scored afterwards by Geelong.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

We dont win the close ones anymore and seem to run out of puff in the last quarter just when poised to make a run at it. I think the younger blokes are struggling more and need more body development to make a full season.

Re: Saints v Cats Match Thread
We havent learnt over the last 3 years that midfiled selections were needed asa priority. We need to have rotations more in that area to match it with other top sides. We missed the boat under Ross to achieve this.spert wrote:Pretty obvious that the midfield of Hayes NDS and Montagna has had its day and it's rebuild time. Ross was a short term thinker fort he team. Insert ready made stronger bodies to snatch a premiership irrespective of the long term development needed.
Coming back to haunt us now. Too much effort required from too few stars each week. This made us predictable the last 2 years as well as our forward structure being too Riewoldt focussed with other talls being too inconsistent.
Scott sees this and has made some change but more is needed but this wont guarantee success for the next couple of years and we need to be sure new selections will make the grade.
