No Pokies
I'm happy to endorse that.
Any thinking person would.
Other AFL clubs are beginning to publicly take an anti-pokies stance.
But our club has rejected it.
Sends a poor message.
Weak stance by the club!

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: No Pokies
EM to be totally fair it's not as if we have sponsors banging down the door at present to sign up. Why in the world would the club allow a potential one match sponsor to upset our major sponsor just because of political mileage?
Club really had no other option in regards to this right at the moment.

Agreed Buckets, but only in the short term.Buckets wrote:EM to be totally fair it's not as if we have sponsors banging down the door at present to sign up. Why in the world would the club allow a potential one match sponsor to upset our major sponsor just because of political mileage?

Enrico is right, and the club should be aiming to be free of gambling links as soon as we can IMO. And I hope we never return to the days of sponsorship from big tobacco either.
Speaking of sponsorship, what's going on there??? If the Dreamon tanking rabble can get a major sponsor, why can't we? Does anyone know? Surely it can't be coz of Kimmie D???
Hi C-man, don't worry, this is nothing to do with 'God-bothering'. It's just a case of trying to protect some of the most vulnerable from the awful damage created by cash-gouging poker machines. It's called concern for one's fellow human beings, which is an attribute I'm sure you'd share.Cairnsman wrote:God bothering do-gooders! They are bloody everywhere. The bloke in that story needs to give himself an uppercut.
BTW, if you ever pop over to the SS General forum, you'll see that Enrico is no God-botherer.

Re: No Pokies
I like the fact that the club came out and told the man that his slogan was unacceptable !
Afterall its a raffle , the club could have taken his money and simply thrown his entry into the bin .
I've bought hundreds of raffle tickets from the club and in the social club over the years .
I've never won anything !

Re: No Pokies
Does Centrebet operate poker machines? From their point of view, the more money punters have to spend on their online site, the better their bottom line. Do we still own pokies? That might be more the issue.Buckets wrote:...Why in the world would the club allow a potential one match sponsor to upset our major sponsor just because of political mileage? ...

Re: No Pokies
double the pokies, get in the big bucks...make a play for all out of contract stars and give them gambling awareness ambassadorships......sound familiar?
Re: No Pokies
Centrebet does not operate nor has any interest in the Saints' poker machines. There was no conflict of the terms and conditions. Rejected that on the grounds that it was "political". This reason - political - is not found in the terms and conditions.stkildathunda wrote:Clearly bloke needs his eyes fixed so he can read the terms and conditions!!
