Blakey back.... who may go out

BREAKING: Jason Blake has been cleared to play this weekend after recovering from ankle surgery http://bit.ly/O2gbGG #gosaints

DEFENDER Jason Blake is in line to make a football comeback this weekend with the club clearing him to play after recovering from an ankle injury.
Blake underwent surgery last month after coming off hurt in the Saints’ game against North Melbourne in Round 14.
“Jason had a syndesmosis ( what) injury to the ankle; which is the ligament between the fibula and the tibia. This needed to be repaired surgically to restore normal function,” High Performance Manager Peter Burge said.
“While it was a significant injury, Jason’s rehabilitation program has been pleasing.”

Re: Blakey back.... who may go out
Give him a week in the VFL while blooding a few kids against Melbourne. If he makes a successful return then in as second ruck for Geelong

Re: Blakey back.... who may go out
Blake was playing defence when he went out. IMO, he'll be playing defence if he comes back. Perhaps to free up one of the guys playing tall defence right now (Fisher or Gwilt).
Polo, I'd imagine, will be replaced with a forward. Maybe Dunell, with somebody else coming in as the sub. Cripps or Siposs, maybe.

Re: Blakey back.... who may go out
I reckon he'll come back through the reserves. With Schneider hopefully available, and also Stanley who apparently is undergoing a test this week, Blake isn't desperately needed - not while he's underdone. We will need him against the cats the following week though.

Defence, but Blake can play just about anywhere.
Kosi's time is up, as you have said yourself recently.

No I never said his time was up but i think you could be right. But he will play thats for sure. I dont see a spot in defence for Blakey and he is no good forward. Before he was injured he deserved to be played but things happen to over 30's when they are out of the side. Tom is that thing as is Jimmy improving weekly. I just cannot see where he can play.

Play him at full forward. He couldn't offer less than Kosi has been.plugger66 wrote: No I never said his time was up but i think you could be right. But he will play thats for sure. It won't happen, I agree, but it should.

No it shouldnt. If they drop Kosi then Siposs or Wilkes are much better options at FF.

I agree, but neither of them can play second ruck like Blake.plugger66 wrote:bigcarl wrote:Play him at full forward. Now lets see BC. Kosi spends 80% of his time forward and 20% in the ruck doing bugger all and you want to play a non FF forward for 80% of the game so we have a ruckman for 20% of the game. Doesnt add up to me.

I think Kosi has been extraordinarily lucky to hold his place this long and it's time he was held to account.
The only reason I can think of that he hasn't been dropped thus far is that he can pinch hit as second ruck.
If they think Wilkes or Siposs can fill in as second ruck then I'm all for that, but Kosi needs to go unfortunately. It's very sad really as reportedly he's a great clubman and terrific fella.

So you are not worried about a guy who has played 200 games and probably none at FF playing 80% of the game there just to have a second ruckman.

Re: Blakey back.... who may go out
I just made the point that he could not offer less than Kosi has been at full forward. I'm not really serious about him playing there and I agree that either Siposs or Wilkes are better options.plugger66 wrote:bigcarl wrote:plugger66 wrote:Now lets see BC. But my real point is that Kosi's time is up and being to pinch hit in second ruck shouldn't keep him in the side.
Perhaps they will go with Wilkes?
Re: Blakey back.... who may go out
cant see him being a walk up start, however may be used to keep kosi miles away from any rucking contests
