Thanks, I will assume that is Melbourne scheduling as I am up in the AFL wastelands.

Let me guess, some trotted out cliches about not taking our chances, proud of the effort of the boys though.
How about suprising us and calling last night for what it was,a complete and utter farce that tarnishes the games image

he seemed like he had conceeded that this year is prob done for us, spoke about challenging players like armo to get better and improve in the dayne beams mold. looks like we will go hard for some moster backmen and more skillled players

If that is true, it is disappointing. There is still 4 games to go.spot on wrote:he seemed like he had conceeded that this year is prob done for us, spoke about challenging players like armo to get better and improve in the dayne beams mold. looks like we will go hard for some moster backmen and more skillled players

Probably all we can do, we wkill fall into the eight if we are extremely lucky to do so. However, in my time at St.Kilda, I've never known luck to be in great abundance at our club.
As I commented after Milne kicked that first gaol in the third quarter, why couldn't the balll bounce like that in the 2010 Grand Final!

It's called 'learned helplessness'. Rather than trying to fight injustice we're reduced to accepting it as par for the course.spot on wrote:he seemed like he had conceeded that this year is prob done for us, spoke about challenging players like armo to get better and improve in the dayne beams mold. looks like we will go hard for some moster backmen and more skillled players

Sounds like the coach was talking about the things that most of us on here bang on about, eg skill deficiencies, need for key backs etc. Not sure why that would upset anyone.desertsaint wrote:It's called 'learned helplessness'. Rather focus on the things we can change rather than those we can't.
Re: Scottie will be on the Sunday footy show
Was very coy about chaplain coming to the saints when asked and said armo has much more improvement left.
Re: Scottie will be on the Sunday footy show
i dont think we will get chaplain. richmond have the $$$ we dont.andrewg wrote:Was very coy about chaplain coming to the saints when asked and said armo has much more improvement left.

Re: Scottie will be on the Sunday footy show
We don't have the money at the moment I wouldnt expect the playing list to stay as it is for 2013
Kozi?
Gilbert?
Clarke?
Peak?
Probably gone
Replace with rookies and 1 good recruit aka Chaplain

Sam Gilberts disposal last night was very very ordinary. He just kept coughing the ball up.andrewg wrote:We don't have the money at the moment I wouldnt expect the playing list to stay as it is for 2013

Yep and it has struggled all year to be honest.
For what we get out of him I'm not sure he is worth persisting with, it would be better having a big defender which will free up fisher to play the Gilbert role and fishers disposal is excellent.

Probably because it's realistic. We can win all 4, I have no doubt. However, the cats, Freo, and the Kangas are doing us no favours. They keep winning and we keep losing (games that are close that is, ie Swans, pies etc)SaintPav wrote:If that is true, it is disappointing. Re: Scottie will be on the Sunday footy show
What good would that do ? He would cop a fine be labled a sook and then face the payback the following week from the umps ... Remember GT used to speak out when he was coach and we ended up the whispers in the sky the following week ..jonesy wrote:Let me guess, some trotted out cliches about not taking our chances, proud of the effort of the boys though.

I think Scotty played it well talked about how we needed to improve and the reinforced that he is not allowed to comment on the umpiring .. It gets the point across without looking like he is complaining

fight it? how? the afl is for all intents and purposes a totalitarian regime, and one with a fairly touchy personality. as an afl club, your negotiating position in dealing with them is very poor. raging against it is like being a farmer complaining about the weather, except at least the weather won't actively try to smite you for commenting.desertsaint wrote:It's called 'learned helplessness'. I was sarcastically answering jonesy's post. Not that I disagree with what he's feeling, or with your point.bergholt wrote:fight it? how? the afl is for all intents and purposes a totalitarian regime, and one with a fairly touchy personality. as an afl club, your negotiating position in dealing with them is very poor. raging against it is like being a farmer complaining about the weather, except at least the weather won't actively try to smite you for commenting.desertsaint wrote:It's called 'learned helplessness'.
